I think this prediction overestimates the abilities of the Big East teams and underestimates the CUSA teams. I have UCONN as a win, but am not as confident about winning at UH. Nonetheless, 5-7 is a pretty safe prediction and a good over under. I think it is time that not only the fans, but the team gets tired of mediocrity and steps it up to 7-9 regular season wins. I know 7 wins and maybe 8 would still be mediocre, but given the improved schedule it will be difficult to achieve much more.

I don't think we lose to Rutgers and UConn.

Harry do you have the link to the predictions? I think if we get 8 wins that might win the conference if Louisville stumbles a couple of times or more.

Mustangxc is right on in that the newcomers are getting dogged. I can't see every single newcomer to the league having a .500 season or worse.

Houston at 4-8? I'd be shocked if they don't get to at least 6 wins. I agree CFN seems to be artificially pumping up the old Big East teams at the disservice of the incoming CUSA teams.

Thanks. I think Temple could do better than 3-9 imo.

Once again, big 'ifs'. If our receivers can do a better job catching the ball, if our Oline does a better job protecting early in the season, and if or QB can limited interceptions and ad the running dimension to the game, we have a chance to be better than 5-7.
Also, if our D line allows the LB corps and DBs to perform, we have a chance to be 5-7.
I doubt we have the turnover fest and D scoring production we had last year. I am encouraged that we have over 40 lettermen returning. That’s a lot of playing experience coming back.
And it helps to have 3 former highly recruited UT players on O.
This is a year to really make progress. I think we are more solid with this team than we have been in years. The very challenging schedule really presents a huge opportunity. The question is will we seize that opportunity. In 1978, SMU proved it could play with anyone in the nation by going 1-1-1 on the road against Florida, Ohio State and Ped State. This schedule presents a very similar opportunity.

Honestly, when you consider the reasons we originally hired Jones (offensive guru) and the fact that we've been below average offensively every year and still go to four straight bowl games is a real testament to Tom Mason and the defense. If we had any sort of consistent offensive production we could've won 8 or 9 games in previous years. Can we finally get that consistent offensive production we thought we were getting when we hired Jones six years ago? I certainly hope so.

It's hard to take anybody who thinks we are going to lose at home to UConn seriously.

Don't kid yourself. We could lose to anyone on the schedule. That includes Montana State.

Don't you mean 7-5?
