while I'm glad for the Pats, the move seems curious as I'm reading that their existing linebacking corps might be the strength of their D this year, and they already have good depth. so, Belichick must have really liked whatever he saw in JGD during preseason play? it'll be interesting to see how it plays out.

I would imagine the only reason the would pick him up is if they thought he had a shot for the final 53 or the practice squad. Maybe the proactive squad is the end goal for them. Regardless, this is good news for him.
