It's the way we lose....

As said before, I don't mind us losing to superior talent but when we look unprepared, out planned, uninspired to play the game it is ridiculous. Penalties, out of position players, no emotion to play has to be corrected. Perception bad for program and any hope of recruiting, plus turns off fans. I'm remembering tv announcers from first game even pointing it out, along with our ridiculous clock management.

Get it fixed and let's do things right way with a plan for success or don't do it at all. Put resources to bball and other areas and succeed there instead of just going thru motions.

Laugh all you want but UTSA has a plan they are working, and won easily last night on the road again in El Paso where there defense didn't allow offensive TD and played without 3 starters. They fought so hard against Oklahoma state couple weeks ago Gundy had to reinsert his starters in 4th quarter to hold the lead, and they are only in their 3rd year of program. They are playing young kids and competing right way with emotion and heart. Sure they will get beat but they have their plan they are working, kids play hard and are well prepared, etc. If we don't get things corrected in 10 years curious to see which program ahead of the other one.

UTSA would beat us this year. They're getting much more for bang for their buck.

They are well coached, well prepared and the young guys that they are playing play hard and with emotion. Coker has a plan and is working it.

All good points. At least Rice hit A&M in the mouth a few times. North Texas sure woke up the folks in Athens, Ga., too. Our game last night was over on the FIRST (stupid) play. If not, then, after making four mistakes on the first nine plays. Never seen a team not know what time kickoff is on a regular basis.

Well our record against Rice shows that we havent been a better program than then in a long time, despute our recruiting rules being very lax. Recruiting matters.

This week is an opportunity for improvement in play.

And when I say that this is an opportunity for improvement in play I mean regardless of whether we win or lose.

I would love for us to try and hire Coker away. I know it won't happen, but I agree, what he's doing down there is outstanding.

The UTSA football program is 3 years old and it's already better than SMU. It's embarrassing to be associated with this SMU football team. Either do it right and bring in the right head coach or shut it down and focus on other things we can be successful in and not bring embarrassment to the school, alums and students that have to be associated with this crap. jj does not care about SMU. Maybe he did at the beginning but he clearly doesn't now. Coker would be a great hire. How much easier would it be to sell SMU than UTSA (had honestly never heard of them until recently)?

What he's doing down there is impressive considering his available resources but that doesn't necessarily make him a good fit for SMU. There's pretty much no expectations being placed on him at UTSA (program is brand new and he's being paid peanuts). Plus with these old guys (Coker is 65) there's always the question of how much they have left in the tank. The last thing we need is another old coach using SMU as a retirement piggy bank.

I hope Coker does well at UTSA, but I don't want him here. We need someone under 50, preferably younger, who has something to prove and can recruit his tail off. Coker, or someone like him, is not likely to take SMU to the next level.

I think UTSA could make some waves in CUSA.

Not a whole lot of resistance in their division.

True. We didn't provide much resistance in that league either.
