It would seem that Rutgers is not as good as Tech, aTm, and TCU but better than Montana State.

Rutgers had much better receivers last year. Despite the Saturday effort, Arkansas isn't that strong and a weaker Rutgers team still beat them.
Over all they are more talented than the average CUSA team but probably not as strong as last year's team.

More importantly, they're better than us.

Since we beat Fresno St and they did not I think anyone knows if they are better. They might be but they might not be.

We beat Fresno State last year, not all that relevant especially since half the starters we beat them with aren't here anymore. Rutgers lost to them by a point on the road. Any one that has watched both teams play this year knows Rutgers is better.

Rutgers was not that impressive against an Arkansas team that did not have their starting QB.

Stick us in that situation against Arkansas and what do you think the outcome would have been? Rutgers wasn't that impressive but they showed a nice amount of resolve coming back from a 3 score deficit against a more-talented SEC team. We've been in that situation many times against AQ teams and have folded every time.

Their starting RB is out as well.

Unless SMU wants to get smacked in the mouth by Rutgers, the team better get prepared to play. Play smart football. Rutgers is going to be one tough game. It is a game that SMU needs to win and the SMU fans need to be invested in.

Should be a fun game imo.
