Perfect coach for SMU

This is a synopsis from all of the threads below:

Must be under 50 years old in order to relate to recruits.
Must embrace Peruna as the only mascot.
Must wear red and/or blue to games.
Must hold a weekly show/event to interact with fans.
Must show emotion on sideline during games.
Must return to blue jerseys.

Sounds to me like you all want to hire Phil Bennett circa 10 years ago, or perhaps Mike Caven, circa 15 years ago...

should we fire larry brown since he is over 70 and obviously can't coach or recruit.

I wonder what they'd have done with a real recruiting model.

Seems as if you are missing the point and purposely doing it. You said nothing of recruiting or getting players ready to play a full game. Look JJ is leaving at some point so we will have to have another coach whether you like it or not.

The cautionary subtly stated is that we could do worse next time.

Not to put salt in our wounds, but we have done it over and over again getting someone worse than the last guy.

When it is time to hire a new coach, it will be critical to get the right coach to move us forward. That is obvious.

What is not obvious is how difficult that task can be.

I do not envy the decision makers tasked with identifying, recruiting and then hiring the next head football coach.

You missed my point. I could care less about every one of the above criteria - all of which is being bantered in the below threads.

My list has only one criteria:
Just win baby.

And given that criteria, June does not qualify.

Caven went 30-27 leading East Tennessee State University. I am pretty sure that their academic criteria and recruiting model was not all that tough.

Phil has not been a HC elsewhere.

no1 gives two sh.its about what the coach wears or if he hosts some kind of weekly event. we just want to see some effort and passion from him and some damn wins and to be competitive with the big boys. June does none of that

Winning is the only qualification one should consider. But there are a few things that we might consider in the next ‘perfect’ coach.

1) He can't get caught cheating. Everybody does it; the 'perfect' coach does it and doesn't get caught.

2) Doesn’t allow little boy rapist to use football facilities to lure victims.

3) Shots on sight any man caught raping a little boy (or girl) on football property.

4) Doesn’t lie to the AD after he crashes his Hog with a super hot younger babe on it with him.

5) Doesn’t use a school credit card at some Pensacola strip club (Sammy’s in particular).

6) Doesn’t get caught lying about his resume.

These are just a few things one might consider as necessary for the next ‘perfect’ coach.

Agreed ^^ We should not hire Joe Paterno, but I am sure that there are some on here that would want Pete Carroll, George OLeary or Bobby Petrino over JJ.

I don't care if they do the things some of these coaches did, just don't get caught doing it or lie about it. If they don't get caught or lie, then they are quite perfectly the 'perfect' coach
