Watching this game, Memphis is one of the worst FBS teams in the country, they have no offense, NONE, and that puts way too much pressure on their defense.

Yes, we scored early and often..BUT yes, we had WAY too many moments where we looked like the keystone cops, beating a 1-6 team by 5 points....GOLF CLAP please. Yes, the sunshiners are actually crowing that we beat one of the worst teams in the country.

SMU looked like fools in the second half and we were aided by questionable officiating and Memphis stupidity in the second half.

AND I swear, at the end of the game, it looked like Hal slapped JJ to let him know we actually finally won one without blowing it.

You see what you want to see. I saw a game that by the closing stages of the third quarter was in the bag. Yes we made some awful errors late in the game but we also played very, very well for much of it.

Kids showed that they don't quit. They've taken some beatings this year but the attitude is outstanding.

When held up to the players and coaches, PonyFans is a disgrace.

As is often the case, I respectably disagree. We outplayed MSU the entire game. We had 3 terrible mistakes (one, a great play by the MSU linebacker, one a freshmen mistake carrying a punt return like it was Mrs. Beard's bread and a stupid INT that looked more like a receiver mistake than anything). Eliminate any one of those 3 mistakes and the theme of all these threads is vastly different. MSU isn't good to be sure. But we are so much better that we can spot MSU 20 points and still win by a comfortable margin.

It wasn't all that long ago that 3 turnovers leading to 20 + points was the hallmark of a traditional getting blown out SMU game.

We have a long way to go. But we didn't lose because our O couldn't move the ball or our D couldn't stop our opponent

Correction: kids showed that if they believe they can beat a team then they will actually show up. That's definitely a coaching problem. Also how does any rational person see a benefit. It really doesn't matter of you play great 50% of the way, it matters how you play the entire 100%. Sadly that 20% per se said volumes about our ball handling ability which to Memphis if you have ball control issues you might as well quit. It's one thing to give up three to Alabama it's another to give up to a pseudo FCS team. You might say there's no upsight to me and you would be right because even if we beat say 4 of these team it's not water cooler talk nor something to really call a success. If we go 6-0, I'll be surprise and slightly happy and irritated that they didn't play like this during the "preseason" games (the ones that really matter).

Almost snatched defeat from the jaws of victory. I honestly don't get why Abu can't see there is a problem with that game. It was not in the bag. A 5 point win is not in the bag. A win is a win in the scheme of things but it was not comfortable.

I honestly want to believe we can win it all but stuff like that makes me so disappointed that we can do so poorly to give away that lead to a bottom 10% program.

This is exactly the reason we are where we are. How anyone can defend the current state of this program is a mystery to me. We recruit at a FCS level, we consistently come to games unprepared and execute poorly. We are playing schools ranked in the bottom 10% of the FBS, yet we struggle mightily. But we did win!

It was not comfortable watching us give them 20 points but I never worried we would lose. 6 of their points came as time expired, so they never actually played while within a TD of us. The score is misleading in that regard.

Life is short, enjoy the win. Save your rage for if the AD even considers not parting ways with Coach Jones at the end of the year.

Even with our so called "improved" [almost no ints]secondary we managed to make the Memphis QB look decent when he wasn't.

I was very surprised by that, though I think that a bunch of the completions were on the long drive at the end when we were giving them short yardage.
