Hover Named Lou Groza Award Semifinalist
Senior kicker has made 13-of-14 field goal attempts this season

WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. (SMU/Palm Beach County Sports Commission) - SMU senior Chase Hover is one of 20 place kickers that has been named to the semifinal list for the 2013 Lou Groza Award presented by the Orange Bowl Committee, the Palm Beach County Sports Commission announced on Monday.

Hover has knocked in 13-of-14 field goal attempts this season, and has booted through 24-of-25 PATs. The senior kicker is 39-of-53 in his career, which is 2nd at SMU for FGs made, and enters Saturday’s game at Cincinnati 19th in NCAA among active players. Hover has scored 226 points in his career, which is sixth at SMU and 12th among the nation’s active players.

Semifinalists will be voted on by FBS head coaches and SIDs, past finalists and national and regional writers, narrowing the field down to three finalists. The finalists will be announced on Nov. 25, and the winner will be announced live on ESPN at the Home Depot College Football Awards Show on Thursday, Dec. 12.

The Lou Groza Award is named in honor of one of the all-time great kickers in football history, Lou Groza. The 1974 Pro Football Hall of Famer played 21 seasons for the Cleveland Browns, setting numerous franchise records, including most games, most points and a streak of 107-consecutive games in which he scored a point.

SMU will travel to Cincinnati on Saturday at 11 a.m. CT on ESPN Regional.

Congrats Chase ... great job. Shows what hard work and perseverance will do for you ..... and reading a paper and answer an add for help. That alone is a good story.
