Taylor Thompson has solidified spot

NASHVILLE, Tenn. -- At the start of camp, I figured Taylor Thompson was in a make-or-break month and thought he was as likely to fizzle out as he was to stick.

Now it’s clear he’s a roster lock as the team’s third tight end, a pass-catcher who can get open and an improving run blocker. The Titans have Delanie Walker as their top receiving tight end and Craig Stevens as their top blocking man at the position.

Thompson is proving capable of contributing in both areas.

taylor thompson made our 1st bowl game in about 20 years possible when he chased the utep qb all over the field and finally tackled him. afterward i thought he was going to pass out on the sideline.

Hey Nacho, thanks for the reminder re: Taylor. That play is very clearly etched in my memory. I remember telling my wife that after chasing the QB it looked as if TT would pass out. Loved TT's effort.

It was a great moment....even with that hug from BUS. It was true greatness.

That play was the loudest I have ever heard the stadium. It was deafening leading up to the play (4th down try for El Paso) and when TT tackled him the place went crazy as it meant we were going to a bowl game!

Great TT memory and very glad for him that he is steadily improving as a TE and is going to stick at TN.

Too bad more people were not there to see. It was a top moment in SMU football. Good for TT.

Yeah, he really did, 5 catches for 57 and was the Titan's second leading receiver for the game.
