Patterson also lost 4 star DB, P.J. Mbanasor to OU as another de-commit earlier in recruiting season if my memory serves me right.
OUCH! Couldn't happen to a nicer guy.

TCU is really now in the down and dirty of P5 recruitment. Should be really interesting how they can keep up with everything. They're no longer the cute BCS busters. They're just one in the dog eat dog atmosphere. They're going to have to find a way to refine their strategy because they're blowing up on risk kids (Brandon Carter and Devonte Fields). Now, some of their top recruits every year are becoming poached.
TCU wished to be in the Big 12. Well, now they look no different than a second division P5 school. Better money, sure. A real challenger for conference championships? Time will tell.

Iowa St. 0
Kansas St. 0
TCU 0
SMU 1 (Haha)

If Baylor can trick people to come to Waco.... perhaps Patterson has built his own tomb and not a cathedral.

Are you implying TCU should have regret for joining the Big XII?? They have been back to big time college football for two years. Of course it is going to take time to get a 2-deep P5 quality roster. BTW, what non-P5 school doesn't wish to be in the Big XII, or a second division P5 school?

I'm not implying that. In fact, I wasn't even thinking it until you mentioned it.

You might not have intentionally implied, but that's almost what it seemed like. SMU fans would kill to be P5 bottom-feeder status right now.

I don't know. I would kinda prefer to be a bottom-feeder in D1 football.

Until they can get back to keeping kids in school like they did in Patterson's first decade they are going to struggle. But the coaching is good enough to make them competitive if they do-they were competitive even last year after bleeding 8-9 top players in each of the last 2 years due to academic flunk-outs and disciplinary problems. They still lost to 4 Big 12 teams by 4 points of less (including OU, Baylor, K-State and Iowa St. and were in just about every conference game late in 4th Q. Lost to teams like OSU and LSU by a respective 14 and 10 points too. They've got a class full of solid players they can develop-last time I looked they had over 100 offers. But this is the 3rd year in a row that they've lost a little bit off the top of their class. Very impressive that they are getting these guys to commit in the first place

Tcu is our best case scenario. Them failing doesn't help us in the least.

So...anyone think this TCU win will have any bearing on where this kid ends up committing to?

Doesn't matter. TCU can now reload with someone just as good or better if they keep winning.
