How many years of good recruiting will it take to get back to being a competitive team against anything other than AAC teams?

At least 3 years of Top 40 level recruiting. That means classes with 75 percent P5 level recruits. Plus many of the current players will need to be sent packing to FCS where they should have been to begin with.

I think with the somewhat generous transfer rules, the right coaching staff will have It back on track in two years. Assuming we can pull in some JUCO and transfer help pronto.

a good class next year (and the years that follow)...and enough time for next year's class to become seniors/RS seniors. Had June's regime done it right, last year or the year before (year 4 or 5) wouldve been prime time for a run at BCS buster (even had the schedule lined up to do it, with name opponents to boost profile)...did the exact opposite though.
Looking at 2018 or 2019 season for a solid team with prospects better than 6-6/7-5.

By the way - this is the reason to take action pretty soon - the transfer help can start Jan 1 of we make some progress this fall with a search.

that presupposes they have other offers...do any of them currently?

I definitely don't think it will be an overnight job.

Proche, McCrary, and the Scotts. The rest have no P5 offers and wouldn't be serious losses.

Will Proche even be able to play? Anyone heard of any updates on his condition?

Need to cut ties with a LOT of guys on the current squad to free up scholarships for a big 2015 class. Would be nice if we could get a full class of around 30 (25 + backcount five early enrollees, if possible). Ideally there would be about eight JUCOs that can come in and contribute right away
