So, what is the NCAA rule on live mascots?

People always say we can't take Peruna to road games because of a live mascot rule, but then A&M's little dog was at Ford yesterday?

Certainly, we didn't give them permission if we were in a position to deny them, right?

Ridiculous to have their mascot. First off, it's too damn hot and it's not like she's in an ac little house like Uga at Georgia. Second, it wasn't in their damn stadium. Third, you risk injury to the dog or to a football player - that damn cadet almost took out our own football player. Just unnecessary IMO.

So let me get this right. A student who is not an athlete was on the sidelines and made physical contact with a student athlete from the opposing team? Why exactly was he not arrested / tossed from the stadium?

Much ado about nothing. It's just a dog, it wasn't that hit compared to many games especially in the kyle field oven, and the bump helped our guy not hit the wall so hard anyway. Geeze.

At least the Aggie didn't pull a sword this time.

Oh, yeah, this has truly gone worldwide viral - just Googled "aggie cadet saves reveille" - more than 15,000 references as of this search. Will probably be more by Monday morning...

And the Corps Commandant said he'll buy the cadet's senior boots for his "selfless" act ...

I agree that in hindsight, it was a non-issue.

But what if that corps guy knocked Thompson (was it Thompson?) off balance, and he stumbled into the brick wall, which isn't that far from the corner of the end zone? What if Thompson had gotten seriously hurt?

Who would have been liable? SMU? A&M? The corps?

I'm no lawyer. Just curious.

Seems like a spectator shouldn't be allowed to touch a participant under any circumstance.

What a dangerous precedent.

I still don't understand how that dog was allowed in Ford!?!?!?!?!?!?

Their fans are acting like Thompson was planning on stepping on the dog. No, he was already jumping out of the way and the guy hit him when he was off balance
