Our two old buddies are close to the top

Our two peer schools within the past decade by hook or crook have kept their seat or forced their way in at the big boy table. Their admins have created an environment conducive to success at the highest level. They've hired the right guys to lead, Patterson and Briles, who value their school and the surrounding community. They both play in shinny new stadiums with the stands full of THEIR fans. They are both embraced by their community and have a ton of t-shirt fans. Now, ESPN has TCU and Baylor as two of the "next four in" to play for the national championship.

Yesterday was a great day of college football but part of me was miserable. This sucks. Let's just play basketball.

Perfect timing:
- pressures our administration
- sets expectation for new staff

Exactly. I don't think the SMU administration is turning a blind eye to this. They are watching and they know that if we don't step up to that level in athletics, we may lose our advantages in academic rankings. TCU and BU are closing in, Turner, get us a freakin football team here!!!

Turner/Admin don't see TCU and Baylor as benchmarks. They see Duke as a benchmark.

Sorry to say, no longer SMU peers. Left SMU behind long ago. Basketball is nice but will never have the impact that football does, especially in Texas.

Baylor and TCU COMBINED wouldn't be the institution that is Dook.
Love these "end game" fatalists.

Why? Honest question, what tangible evidence is there to trust them?

the same amount that there is not to. Just decide whether or not you want to have faith or just sit back and beatch. None of us can do anything about the final decision. I personally will trust them until I feel otherwise.

So is Game Day going to Waco. No. 3 Baylor v. No 9 TCU or is GameDay really just the SEC Game of the Week for third straight week. Auburn at Mississippi St.?
