On the team flight home from Connecticut

As you can imagine, the atmosphere on the team flight home was different from that on previous return flights. Players and coaches smiled and laughed, clearly relieved after beating Connecticut.
A lot of people had good things to say about the team that ended its season with a win, despite a lot of players missing because of injuries. But one of the best came from linebackers coach Eric Daniels, who said, "To be down 20-6 at halftime after coming into this game at 0-11, on the road, when it's cold and wet, and then to come back and win …. this might be the most gratifying game I have ever been a part of, as a player or a coach."
He looked really sincere when he said it. Cool moment.

So glad they won and had a great trip home. It really sounded like a good win. I listened on the phone to the webcast of the radio feed. Nice Job as well Steve. It sounded like the Mustangs where having another 'Oh $hucks" moment. Something bad happens and then they just let down. But the D held in there and the O got somethings going. Really good win.

I think so. It reportedly was 16 before Houston game. Then Stephon Sanders and Nate Halverson got hurt. Not sure who the last one was, but practice toward the end of last week really required a roster.

I'd like to join in in thanking Steve for a job very well done this season. Made the broadcasts very interesting despite the team's struggles. Well done, sir.

He said that to me as well and he added that "now the team has sometime to build on".

If there was one guy on the staff worth retaining, in may have been Daniels. Young, passionate, recruiter, obviously cared more for his players than his own job. Good luck to him wherever he lands.
