Getting behind our kids

I thought that this might be the best place to address this, as it covers recruits, football, and basketball players.
I suggest that anyone not doing so, get on the twitter bandwagon. In an effort to show currently players and incoming players that SMU family care about them, I have taken to really tweeting out. So far, I have seen a lot of positive come from it.
In light of events with both basketball and football, I feel that everything we can do to show support will only help shine a positive light on our programs.

WTP, if you're not already, follow @SMUCompliance on Twitter.
And, just in case you don't read the suggested thread, DO NOT contact any recruit until they have signed their NLI.

Guys, I know we're all terrified of pizzing off the NCAA and violations, but in today's day and age, there really isn't anything that can be done about Tweeting people. Look at what the Illinois fans did with Elijah Thomas?
I could go pretend to be an Aggy on twitter and tweet all their recruits, there's nothing that the NCAA, at this current juncture, will do about it. Tweet away, just don't use your real name if you're paranoid

Uh, hello. I am MORE than aware of compliance issues. You here are stupid reactionary. I do not ever contact any recruit. I do not ever contact a current student /athlete. What I do is compliment our current staff and athletes by mentioning them. I RETWEET from current staff, players and others including former players.
Get a clue. The current players and recruit follow all of this. I do not ever make any contact with a recruit. As for recruits, they see the tweets and retweets, and they eat it up. #DeclareSMU #PonyUp #SMUBasketball @SMUBasketball #SMUFootball @SMUFootball #tempo

Can't get the image to load, but if you are going to tweet a potential recruit you might want to grammar check. Can't beat the syracuse fan who want's Boudreaux to know: "your the missing link."

It isn't about "contacting 16 and 17 year old boys on the Internet. "
It is about letting them know that we are aware and care. Bunch of stone age mentality. Like it or not, the kids, and our former players like having their tweeks resent. They like having a "like" on Facebook. It's what they do. It's what they get into. If you don't think the alumni and students at any major P5 school doesn't do this, then you need to wake up. You can sit by idle, or cheer them on in every manner possible. Plus it isn't necessary to tweet to the kids. They get it when you make statements in tweets that support the school and it's programs.
