Tackle Braxton Webb, of Central High School in San Angelo, Texas, is the kind of lineman college coaches seek: tall, long-armed and mobile. He recently committed to SMU over three other offers, and with a strong senior season and another year of physical maturity, very well might collect more. Webb visited with PonyFans.com to discuss why he chose SMU, and why didn't want to wait before pledging his commitment to play for the Mustangs.

Great profile! I am looking forward to seeing Braxton pancake people when he gets here.
It's nice to read about how our coaching staff is really making an impression on future players!

Sounds promising. The last basketball player I remember SMU recruiting was Beachum, and he turned out OK. This guy's taller. Hopefully he turns out to be just as good.

Bench 235? Redshirt. I can bench more than that. And I'm old. And fat.

What did Kelvin Beachum bench when he showed up at 240 or so? Dude's not even a high school senior yet. His frame and ability to run are far more encouraging than his bench is concerning. Let's see what he looks like after 2-3 years in a college strength program.

Watch his film. He's a very good athlete that just hasn't had time to really hit the weight room. He has an entire year of high school before he steps foot on campus. I'm not worried. Coach Tru will get him where he needs to be.

Excellent comparison..spot on. comparing a 6'10" small forward playing basketball who is so supremely skilled and where bench press his little to no translation to his on court success.. to an offensive lineman responsible for delivering a punch to a 285 lb man directly across from you and pressing him off you so he cant get his hands on you.
