Their old AD quit his SEC job to go to Baylor.
Currently, they don't have a President. They don't have a Channcelor. They are losing $ millions b/c of declining enrollment due to racial strife.

If Hart left for that gig, it is another sign that we have no shot of getting into a better conference.

I don't think that is totally true. He could leave if it were a lot more money.

AD, leaving if he is, has zero bearing on Big 12. Big 12 entry is not an AD transaction, it is a Presidential transaction, and even above him. AD is meaningful only when he is among national movers and shakers.

In the world of AD jobs, an SEC job is better than a job at SMU, it is (today). If Hart wants to go to Meth U, it's not a "signal".
SMU is making a bold move and everyone keeps talking B12, but my money would be ACC first, PAC second, and UT-less B12 third (in order of something actually happening).
