@BillNicholsDMN- SMUs James Proche: it doesn't matter if we're down 20 or 10. We're done w/ the death penalty. We're back. That's how it's going 2B from now on.
I absolutely love that!!!

Special player and seems like a great guy with a good head on his shoulders.

Nice quote but sick of the death penalty references tbh.

Not one player and almost none of our coaches were even born when we got the death penalty. It's silly to keep it in the conversation. That said - having a little confidence is long overdue in our lockeroom. Our fans could take a lesson. It's not cool to be a defeatist anymore.

That is basically what he was saying. They do not want to hear about it.

That quote is AWESOME! Love it!
It's a new day in SMU football and if CM will stick around for a while the ghost of the DP will be banished.

At the end of the day, you don't banish the death penalty talk with a few 7-5 seasons. In fact, it might have the opposite effect of reinforcing the notion that you have a ceiling of mediocrity. You banish the death penalty talk with 3-4 consecutive 9-10 win seasons with a few P5 victories sprinkled in.

Nobody said a 7-5 season was going to banish the DP talk and that's why I said "if CM sticks around for awhile".

If Chad decides to leave it's not over-they know the formula, go get the next one that's up for the task and will recruit Texas hard. The cupboard will definitely not be bare, and the next guy will take us to the next level if Chad decides Baylol is calling to him.
That being said, I think he sticks around for a while before taking a job at an A&M or Auburn type program.

CM IMO is going to be here for a very long time. He loves Dallas and this is where he wanted to be.

Love Proche's leadership. They (not us, but the they) are moving the narrative forward and that is special. This coupled with the demise of the Big 12, down years by TCU, Texas, Baylor is a mess, is a great set up. I think the American is looking better than any could have imagined (short of Power 5 status). I am optimistic HCCM will stick around. A packed house this weekend as a way to reward the coaching staff and the players would be a great thank you! Will be interesting to see what offers our assistance coaches might get. I would love to see Van and others get head coaching offers. As Stallion and many others have said, just win and that will take care of most other issues. Great time to be a Mustang fan!
