Ponies win on a last minute drive. We may finally have the defense to slow down Navy. Should be a fun game

35-31 SMU. Only if William Brown plays. If we start #PickHicks then we go 0-28 in the first half, put William Brown in and lose 28-42.

Obviously this would be a huge home win for the Mustangs but I'm done predicting what this team might do. Just hope we are competitive and have an opportunity to steal a win.

We'll need All Hands On Deck (sorry) to win this one, but I think we have a serious chance. It's still more on the Defense than the Offense IMHO. Need to keep them at 3 scores and we keep the ball for more of those long, clock consuming drives like at Michigan in the second half. So, 28 - 21, SMU.

I think we need to score a lot to beat them. Going to have to air it out against them. And get turnovers on defense. Only way to win. If we can pick up big chunks and score TDs (versus FGs) plus a fumble, we have a chance. Need a good turnout for this one. Having Pat Nelson back (and is Mitchell ok?) plus Wyatt is going to be critically important.

I just want to see progress. If we have the TOP deficiency we had in the first half against Michigan, the defense is going to get even more worn out against Navy. We really can't afford back-to-back 3 and outs or to run too much tempo. That would seem to scream for Brown to start, but I still expect Hicks to get the nod. I do think that if the transfers come back in, there might be some additional miscommunication in the passing game. So simplifying the calls for the freshman would make a lot of sense.
Our defense has been at its most effective playing aggressively. Against Navy, it is more about playing your responsibilities. Can you still swarm while playing your responsibilities? And can you trust the guy next you you to execute their responsibility so that you don't give up on yours?
Has Kane ever coached against Navy? First time can be quite a challenge.
I like Moore vs the fullback. I like our outside LBs against the pitch. The big matchup is going to be DE on QB, or if you play a 4-4, the second inside LB has to hit that QB and the DE has to take out the line. I think I like us in a 4-4, because Moore/Denbow one is taking the FB and the other takes the QB, and I think we can be successful with Nelson and Mitchell on the outside taking the pitch.
At this point, I wouldn't predict us to win, but I just want to see continued progress from the team.
At this point, to get to a bowl, you have to beat HBU, Tulane, Tulsa, and UConn. And find a way to beat two of Cincy, Houston, Memphis, Navy, and UCF. Navy isn't a must win for a bowl game, but it is pretty darn close if you think Houston, Memphis, and UCF are at the next level.

Granted our schedule has been more difficult than Navy's, but they put up 114 points in their 1st 3 games vs only 55 for our Mustangs. We'd better hope the defense can make some stops because I'm not optimistic that we are going to outscore them in a track meet type game. Memphis did hold them to 22 points in Navy's 22-21 win in Annapolis.

If Pick6Hicks is mostly on bench & Brown keeps playing like he's capable, reverse my score

D plays their tails off to hold Navy to only 1 touchdown in the first half and we go in 17-7 for the first half lead of the season. After going down 28-24 with the D tiring in the second half Brown leads us on a game winning drive starting our march to a 7 win season and a second consecutive bowl game. Can't wait to get loud on Saturday. Let's Go 'Stangs!
