2024 Season predictions

It is game week, so time to make your season predictions. I've read and listened to many pundits that are optimistic for our Ponies in the ACC. I am hopeful but holding to the idea that SMU needs to prove they can consistently beat P4 programs before predicting big things. I'm predicting 7 - 5 W/L, with upside to 8 - 4 W/L. We split between BYU and TCU and then win 4 of 8 ACC games.

FPI has us favored in all but 2 games this season. I'm gonna go with that, plus 1 loss somewhere. so 9-3.

I'm just glad we're no longer playing the same teams we have been playing for the last 20+ years. Looking forward to seeing something new.

I think there could be an additional loss in the schedule somewhere, but I don't see us doing worse than 8-4 and could pull off 10-2 if the stars align.

I had us 3-1 in non-conference losing to either BYU or TCU and then going 4-4 in ACC play for a 7-5 finish but would love to see an 8-4 or even 9-3 finish that would far exceed my expectations. I'm impressed by the roster building this staff has done and the depth we have at so many positions but most of our opponents will also have 2-deep P4 talent so hopefully our guys go at least 7-5 and earn another bowl bid this year.

5 or 6 wins. OT depth going to lose us a game or two.

Shock the world. 10-2 and a spot in the ACC championship game. Lose that one, but gain respect and just miss out on a college football playoff spot. Go to a nY6 bowl and SMUΓÇÖs journey back to the early 1980s is complete. We end up a top 20 team and with the big boosters back, we should stay there. Attendance average jumps to the 30 thousand mark with a couple of full sellouts. The days of watching other games on the Boulevard while SMU plays are over.
