Turner in DMN on C-USA expansion

There you go. Turner states that SMU is backing La. Tech because Tulane wants them and SMU is repaying the biggest backer we have in the conference.
NOTE TO UNT FANS: Don't come here whining about how SMU needs UNT in the conference, go to the source. Tulane is who you need to lobby -- take it there.

Tulsa and Rice also support La Tech for the C-USA. It makes sense for former WAC teams to back each other. Even though it would be better for the C-USA if there were a suitable addition for the Eastern Division, apparently there isn't anybody good available. UNT needs to pursue the WAC if they want to move up from the Sun Belt Conference. They are not going to like the Mountain and Pacific time zone schedules. TCU is yet to face the time/travel problem coming for them in the MWC. SMU has a good position now. We just need winning teams to follow up on this opportunity.

True, but I do like seeing the point about LaTech. UNT can't say we blackballed them.
