ESPN: Dickerson does not want Barkley to break his record

Post by PonyPride »

Former SMU star: "If he's fortunate to get over 2,000 yards and get the record, it's a great record to have."

It's a bad look to focus on "Barkley has an extra game" line.
I'm sure he doesn't want to lose the record, but this is the time to go with the "records are meant to be broken" comment.
I really shouldn't drink and type.

I thought ED answered very nicely when he was asked after the Eagles game. Sporting a SMU cap too.

The only way Barkley doesn't get it is if they don't try. In order for him to go for it, the Eagles will have to play their entire offense (at least the entire o-line) in a meaningless game. I don't know if they're willing to do that and I don't think Barkley cares near as much as ED.

If Barkley plays, Sirianni should be fired.
Could you imagine if Barkley got hurt in a meaningless game right before the playoffs?

ESPN says Barkley will sit out this weekend.
The only rational decision.

I'm with Eric on this one. One record I hope stays unbroken for many years to come

Time for him to be the bigger man, and root (at least publicly) for Barkley or McCaffrey or some other RB to set the bar a little higher. He'll always know he did it in fewer games, which is why some oldheads have said Dickerson's record doesn't make him better than guys like Jim Brown or OJ Simpson or Walter Payton, who put up their numbers in fewer games than Dickerson played.
