Sorry for the question but have been off the Board for a while. I'm seeing a lot of the old guard no longer posts. Does SMU still have a decent travel base? Looking to go to 2-3 away games this year.

A lot of posters have another site that they pay monthly to do so.

The info gets here but it takes a day.

The traveling fan base is growing, but it's like any team's fans — traveling is easier when an away game is relatively close, and the bigger games (Clemson, Penn State, etc.) are bigger draws. There was a time when the only red and blue in the stands at road games almost was limited to players' and coaches' families. Crowds at Stanford and Nevada were pretty small, but there were several hundred, if not a couple thousand for games like Clemson, Virginia, etc.

To quote just about every coach in the world, it's a great feeling to go into someone else's stadium and walk out with a win. Everyone should try to get to Fort Worth, and it's worth the time and money to get to other road games if you can.

Agreed, the numbers are growing but it does depend upon location, date, opponent, etc. Last year I thought the SMU crowd was decent at the Duke and Stanford games, but disappointing at Louisville (I'm not counting Nevada and Virginia due to the dates of those games). This year, we should be well-represented at Clemson, WF, BC, and California.
