DALLAS (SMU) — SMU Men's Soccer won 2-1 over Oral Roberts in a dominant showing at Washburne Stadium on Sunday.

The Mustangs outshot the Golden Eagles 18 to two through 90 minutes after shutting down the visitors to zero shots in the first half.

SMU took the first lead in the 12th minute of the match with Mukisa Emmanuel's first goal for SMU, assisted by Daniel Escorcia. Escorcia has an assist in two consecutive matches.

Emmanuel scored his brace, which ended up being the match-winner in the 75th minute of the game.

SMU closed the second week with a 2-1-1 record.

How it happened
SMU was on the front foot as soon as the whistle blew and took an early lead in the 12th minute with Emmanuel's first goal for SMU.

Jaylinn Mitchell's cross was punched away by the ORU's goalkeeper, but Escorcia was there to intercept the ball and lay it off for Emmanuel to score from point-blank range.

SMU saw multiple chances for Luis Flores and Charles-Emile Brunet, but they were still inches away from their second goal.

The first half ended 1-0 for SMU.

The Mustangs did not let up their relentless attack in the second half, registering three shots in the first 10 minutes of the period.

Emmanuel found SMU's second goal in the 75th minute of the match.

Landon Hickam made a strong tackle at the edge of ORU's box, Ryan Clanton-Pimentel gathered the ball and swung a low cross that found Milton Lopez. The goalkeeper saved Lopez's shot, but Emmanuel was there to score another rebound goal.

The Golden Eagles reduced their deficit in the 80th minute with a goal by Benjamin Morgan on a counter.

SMU's defense did not allow more shots in the final 10 minutes, and the Mustangs completed the triumph.
