I am looking forward to Hicks taking hold of this thing and not letting go and having a huge season!

It will be interesting to see if the transfers have any impact though.

Why would you want our best QB to redshirt?

Because he took hold of it and didn't let go.

I'm not saying he should redshirt. I don't know if he's the best QB or not, but he has played less than 1 game since he left Wisconsin and he's behind Hicks and Peavey in time spent learning the offense. So if he doesn't win the job, could he redshirt so he can have another year on his time with us?

No he redshirted his first year at Wisconsin. Caveat- he might be able to get some kind of 6th year medical redshirt if he was injured early this year because he did miss last year in JUCO. You can get a medical redshirt based partly on a JUCO injury
