"SMU has apparently received a commitment from TE Craig Kuhrt 6-7,250, 5.0 Bastrop. Austin Area Prospects has a little info on him-11 catches this year for 99 yards.""

Nice! Always good to have more big kids. This year's class is lookin' pretty meaty.

This makes five commitments so far - and last year, we didn't even have one at this point. Keep it up, coaches!

Two things to do with this kid:
1. Beef him up and give him a share of the O-Line.
2. Work on his size and weight, and hope he can be another Tony Gonzalez. Maybe Coach Dement could use him, and he could be our Julius Peppers/Ronald Curry/Charlie Ward type.

I was tied up with the Astros nosedive against the Braves this past week. As a result, I haven't been able to keep up with things the past few days. I'll call out to Bastrop and check on the details for you.

I saw him in action last year several times and he impressed me. Unfortunately, I haven't seen the Bears play any this year to give you a better report. But several coaches in his district raved to me about his potential before the year. And for those who aren't familiar with Bastrop, its a 4A school that plays in a relatively tough district southeast of Austin.
