I think we have to be honest about this and all agree that JJ is a better judge of qb's than any of us; however, BLM has been too impatient trying to make plays and has thrown too many interceptions. Jones is trying to coach him through it and that's why he's reluctant to make a change though he has ...

Whomever is the more accurate passer will be the starting qb. Willis has intangibles, but he may not be the most accurate passer on the team.

Also, Willis didn't do himself any favors by getting suspended for Spring ball. That was dumb. If the HC can't trust his qb then he won't be the starting ...

Shocked that Viloria wasn't mentioned??? Lighten up Francis.

I'm sure Viloria had something to do with it, but the primary reason he committed to SMU is June Jones. Bobby Hebert thinks very highly of Jones from his days in Atlanta with him and often says that June Jones knows more about offense ...

I think the coach had the right to defend his player, but he looked selective in doing so. It happens too frequently and it's too bad, but to hang up SMU as the poster child for this practice borders on the absurd. Though Coach Owens' position was correct, he came across as a little over the top. I ...

Let's forget bashing the naysayers. There are a lot of people on this board who are guilty of that. I'm just glad they got an innovative coach who will give us some advantages strategically that we haven't had before. Also, I'm awfully glad we didn't get Fran Jerko from College Station who managed ...

I think he knows enough about the facilities. I think he wants to sit down with Orsini and Turner and find out how committed they are to winning. That is the deal closer. If he believes that they are committed to doing what it takes to win then he'll be introduced as the new HC. Bank on it.

Jones would be a great get for SMU. Friend of mine coaches at A&M and said that Fran was the least liked coach in the athletic department at A&M. That has to get around.

Also, few if any coaches run Jones' offense. He will have to adjust to the more rigorous requirements at SMU, but the athletes ...

There will inevitably be some fallout, but some of you are making too much out of it. It sounded like the current players were real excited about their new HC and I think the recruits will "in time" be as well. For as much as the local high school coaches loved Caoch Tubbs they didn't exactly steer ...

Sweet! This is the best SMU hire has made in the last 20 years. This has the potential to really change the landscape of SMU athletics. Maybe the Administration is as fed up as weare about losing b/c hiring Matt Doherty and what that means sends a loud message that SMU wants to be taken seriously ...

Some people are just naturally skeptical which is not necessarily a negative trait, but IF Doherty accepts this job it is a WIN for SMU. As I have posted previously Doherty will not take this job unless he is absolutely convinced that the University is committed to winning basketball. He knows that ...

Perry Clark was an Associate Head Coach under Bobby Cremins at Georgia Tech prior to coming to Tulane. He had been at Ga. Tech for about 10 years I think.

Neither Doherty or perhaps even Evans (though he is unemployed) would accept the SMU job unless they were convinced SMU is going to make a greater institutional commitment to the program. There is no way Doherty would make the jump from FAU unless he were promised by Orsini and Turner that SMU will ...

I think that Orsini wants someone other than Evans. Evans has a chance at getting the job, but there are more attractive candidates in Orsini's eyes.

To think Doherty won't get in the door to Dallas area recruits borders on laughable. It may take some time for Doherty to to be accepted by the DISD coaches, but all Doherty has to do is get his buddy MJ to make a phone call or show up for a basketball camp and they'll warm up to him real quick.

Doherty would be a great hire. I was on record 2 years ago in saying that SMU should have hired him then. Well, we didn't, but apparently he's interested enough to come to campus and interview and make the higher ups at FAU not happy.

Doherty would be a great HC for SMU. He's got some baggage ...
