Re: DMN spanks June

Perhaps Tom Mason has not been contacted about another job because his defense was terrible as well.

June will hire Mason just as soon as June accepts the job offered to him by Dean Wormer at Faber College!

June really should go coach high school somewhere. Doesn't have to recruit that way and ...

Re: Speacial Teams Anyone?

Many, not all, universities simply divide the duties among their staff. Each position coach that is not a coordinator will be responsible for one of the ST units. Not sure if that's Chad's plan, but that's what often happens due to the restrictions on the number of coaches.

Re: Desoto Coach

I appreciate the concerns about sideline antics, but we're not hiring him to be head coach. Pretty sure HCCM will keep any potential sideline antics to a minimum.

Also, I seriously hope this isn't in any way a hang up on our end or for frivolous reasons. Not exactly the best look for us to be slow ...

Bill Young.... Again

http://footballscoop.com/the-scoop/

Looks like he may have not been telling the truth when he talked to the Daily Oklahoman. Football Scoop is reporting, once again, that he is joining our staff as the D-Line coach.

Re: Desoto Coach

Coach Morris will keep him in check. He will be a role player more than running the show so I'd hope his antics would be kept more in line.

SMU football could use a little fire on the field and on the sidelines after the 7 year museum curator experiment.

There's no doubt that energy is needed ...

Re: Desoto Coach

Can anyone shed some light on what is going on there? Would love to see him on this staff for multiple reasons. What is the delay, or is it not happening?

Per this, seems done:

m meltdowns?

Coached against Claude last year. He has done a phenomenal job at Desoto, and he would be a great ...

Re: To the Seniors

The last couple of years didn't turn out the way any of us wanted on the football field. The coach who recruited you left, for whatever circumstances and many of your teamates suffered season ending injuries. As you exit the stage, all of the attention is on a new coaching regime and the optimism ...

Doesn't look like this is happening... according to Bill Young.

Re: Per Report - Former OK State D Coordinator Bill Young to

You can hire as many Consultant's as you want to pay for-they just aren't designated members of Coaching staff-they can't recruit, call plays etc. I doubt if this guy has any interest in recruiting anyway. I was reading up on him before this was announced. He just got bored so he took the Yukon job ...

Wow. Didn't see that one coming. Another Texas high school football coach takes a D-I head coaching gig. That's impressive. Good for David.

Re: Per Report - Former OK State D Coordinator Bill Young to

So he's a glorified consultant? We had plenty of those on the last staff. Either this guy calls the defense or it's a waste of a spot (unless he plans to be incredibly active on the recruiting trail at age 68).

Waste of a spot?!?!?!? Does the NCAA put a limit on staff size?

I like having an ...

Re: Mike Riley to Nebraska

You know what's nuts? It isn't too crazy that we could be saying down the road that we have a better coach than Florida and Nebraska do.

If our coach outperforms their coach, "down the road" he will be somebody else's coach.

But, that will be a good thing because getting your coach stolen ...

Re: Per Report - Former OK State D Coordinator Bill Young to

Anybody been named as "Assistant Head Coach" yet? If not, Bill could fit well in that spot. At some point, you need some experience on staff. If not, there will be things overlooked. Look at Kingsbury's staff at Tech. Young, active, and energetic, but too unorganized and too many things not being ...

Re: Per Report - OK State D Coordinator Bill Young to SMU

Huh. That seems odd.
A) We already have Van Malone (reportedly as DC)
B) Even if he was being hired for DC, why would he take a lateral move to SMU?

Not a lateral move. Bill is currently the head football coach at Yukon High School in Oklahoma. He took that job this year after a year away from ...
