Re: Kansas fires Charlie Weis
Looks like he has solved the income problem. Get a fat contract, do a sorry job and make them buy you out. in 2012 ND paid Weis more than they paid Kelly. I think they are still making payments and now he gets millions from KU. Great plan from a guy with a terrible coaching record.

SUCCESS FROM THE TOP
I AM BEGINING TO WONDER IF ANYONE READ THE MIAMI hERALD LINK IN MY ORIGINAL POST. THE POINT I WANTED TO MAKE WAS THE MIAMI PROGRAM, AT A SCHOOL VERY SIMILAR TO SMU, IS SUCCESSFUL BECAUSE EVERY BODY FROM THE PRESIDENT ON DOWN TAKES PART IN THE RECRUITING EFFORT. THIS INCLUDES MEETING WITH RECRUITS ...

IN DEFENSE OF MY POSt
Alabama landed the No. 2 prospect and Clemson made a splash on signing day, but the nation's top class belongs to Miami. Top 25

The link to a Miami Herald article on UM's #1 rated class tells how the administration helps show prospects the Cane Family. It works! Coker had lost the local talent. When you see that two of the top 10 HS teams in the country are in Miami, you just have to dominate the area to be a cocsistant ...

More to the Story
Rooster was the manager/waterboy for the hoena of that era. In his senior season Bible let him kick a few extra points. He knew how much Rooster loved the horns and by being a kicker, there were no kicking specialists then, Rooster became a Letterman for the Horns.

JANUARY 4TH PRESS CONFERENCE....JUNE JONES!!!!!!!!
On December 20th I posted the above, becoming the first to call the hire. Sorry I screwed up on the date by three days. I lived in Hawaii long enough that I shoold have taken into account the time factor. It is still the best coaching hire at SMU ...

OUT OF STATE RECRUITING
Florida exports 300 to 400 players to out of Florida Bowl schools every year. These typically are skill posotion players. Florida is second among states in number of students at SMU. We have been missing a big opportunity to get studs from top quality programs that are already sending students to ...

in the alumni category Raymond and Forrest
Both coached teams to Super Bowls. I have not checked it out, but they may be the only ones to have both played in Super Bowls as players and then been Head Coaches in the game. It should also be noted that SMU grad Lamar Hunt named it the "Super Bowl". Good SMU history! We do have a lot to be proud ...

SMU VS ND 1949
I am an old guy who was there. There is no way to express the excitement on campus the week before the game or for people now to understand how big it was on the national sceen. Doak was injured and out for the game and Kyle Rote made up the difference. We lost in the final minutes 27-20, but no one ...

Hawaii Doesn't Have moore to Give
Hawaii is not a rich school. It took contributions from 50 boosters to raise the 100,00 given to Jones at the end of the season. Thay have bad facilities and want to use the BCS money for the academic side. Affluent students go back to the mainland for college. I think we have a real shot.

Makes Bad Decisions
Any body who would leave Alabama for A&M is not bright enough to coach SMU! You can win national championships at Alabama. Not even Bear could at A&M.

I do not know Don except in the most casual way. We were in the same fraternity, but he arrived as I left. In a number of contacts with him over the years he has been humble, kind and friendly. He is very bright and took his classwork very seriously. His father was a country lawyer in a small Texas ...
