Re: Jay Hartzell - New President
The business school can't help with AAU status, except creating a PhD program (which will take financial support from the university). AAU status will take a Herculean effort by engineering and/or other hard sciences. A medical school would help and be the sure path IMO, but I'm not sure SMU is ...

Re: SMU Cox Full Time MBA Achieves Highest Rank Ever
Within Cox, we really have been trying hard over the past 6 years to move the lever on these metrics even when we have many considerable constraints. When they start ranking our Online MBA, we should do well there too.

Re: Lacrosse Weekend
If adding a women's sport, it's GOT to be gymnastics. Dallas is the #1 talent pool in the country. It's a shame we don't have one. We could use the same marketing strategy as the football program even.

Re: SMU MBA ranked #41
SMU will never move forward untill it divorces itself from the unacademic world of the MBA.

Re: Bloomberg B-school Ranking
It is graduate programs, and primarily the FT MBA. That is the program that the b-school rankings focus on most heavily. Cox is spending more time on the rankings criteria to be mindful of the rankings, for better or worse.

Re: Tweet from SMU re: enrollment
Cox enrollment was up approximately 40% at the graduate level this year...across all programs. We purposefully shrank the 2 year MBA (to focus on quality) and the MSA remained the same. All other programs had huge enrollment growths. At the undergraduate level, we increased 20% even though we moved ...

Re: US News Rankings
For the record, Cox just revamped it's entire MBA and BBA curriculum to focus on three pillars derived from alumni and business representatives: leadership, analytics, and experiential learning. Cox is also at the forefront of the university in terms of peer-rated course evaluations rather than ...

Re: The Best Undergraduate Business Schools
If you believe that should happen (growing Cox and Lyle), shout it from the rooftops. Right now, the general consensus is to NOT grow Cox undergraduate. At many universities these days, grant money drives growth decisions, and b-schools don't bring in grant dollars. That's just the reality.

Re: SMU Cox Launches New Online MBA
Most schools have a production studio for online courses. It costs more money than an empty classroom does to maintain those studios, use technology to create video content, voice overs, and applications to deliver that content. If each section of students is only 15-20 students, it also costs money ...

Yes, usually in terms of MBA. I think USC and ASU charge about $5-10k more for online than on campus.

Re: SMU Cox Launches New Online MBA
FYI, Noodle is a high-quality provider, and we've been in the works with them for a couple of years. The emphasis has been on a high degree of synchronous time (i.e., face to face with the professor and other students) virtually to maintain a quality educational experience. Class size is limited to ...
