Re: SMU opens at No. 16 in coaches poll
Youve got to admit when TCU and Baylor aren't even on the list, and SMU slots ahead of Texas Tech and Texas A&M, SMU has picked up a lot of respect very quickly.

This is why is was important for Clemson and FSU to settle
This is why is was important for Clemson and FSU to settle with the ACC. They have to exist in the league for the league to still be a power player against the SEC and Big10. As long as they stay put, there is still large TV draw, and threat to the power structure of the SEC/Big10. Notre Dame is the ...

Final Week of Year One in the ACC
As we come into the last week of the first year of SMU being in the ACC, I thought I would get your thoughts.
I'm a Clemson guy, but I've loved having SMU as an addition to the conference. I have enjoyed my interactions with fans on this message board, and I've enjoyed watching the Mustangs play. I ...

Re: Home & Home with LSU
This is a big deal for SMU. And props to LSU for continuing to schedule good competition outside the SEC (they had two with FSU, one with USC, currently on two with Clemson, etc)
The ACC and SEC have a lot of southern overlap, so it's always fun to get matchups along those lines.

Embarrassing for ESPN maybe, but dignified of Herbstreit and Howard for doing it in a graceful way.SMUFan wrote:10 or 20 years too late. He has been a carnival sideshow for years. The way Herbstreit and Desmond Howard had to humor him in recent years had been embarrassing.

Me too! I think the league is going to avail itself quite well despite the narrative.

Re: ACC basketball Tournament
Going to Charlotte on Friday but looks like I won't get to see any Pony hoops. Was hoping for a game vs. Duke that night but hopefully we win two to get there. My wife arrives on Thursday so maybe she can see SMU vs. Clemson. Fingers crossed.

Re: ESPN.com: Clemson, Florida State expected to settle with
Some of the ACC schools not getting an SEC or BT game would be a shame, because I feel some games, for instance NC v SC really make sense and I'd like to see that happen on a regular basis. Same with Clemson v Georgia, VT vs Tennessee, Pitt vs Penn State, and soforth. I know Clemson has a home/away ...

I don't like the idea of going nationwide even more than now, but I do see your point.
One thing you brought up and I do think this is worth mentioning, is that the 1AA schools are going to be the eventual losers in all of this. Ultimately I think the "other" sports at those schools will be cut ...

Agreed, this is good news.
Clemson and FSU, schools with fewer big-money grads, but plenty of loyal fans, get money more consistent with their SEC neighbors, and the conference stays together. I don't want a world that is "just SEC and Big10"
I'm cool with it.

Clemson and hotels
One other thing if you are planning on going to the Clemson game: You won't get a hotel in Clemson. And probably already booked out in neighboring small towns of Easley and Seneca. If you are flying in to Atlanta, might want to check Anderson, and if from Charlotte might want to check Greenville ...

Regarding Clemson and airports
Atlanta is the closest major airport, although it is on the south side of Atlanta and you'll have to get through the city up I-85, which is not usually easy. If you can make it though with no trouble, it's a 1.5 hour drive, but more likely 2.5hrs. Charlotte is about 2.5 hours, but the airport is on ...

Great Game SMU
I've been following this site for a long time, and posting since you were invited to the ACC. My buddy and I had long hoped SMU would get into the ACC, and wow, what a splash in year one.
I was thrilled it would be a Clemson v SMU game for the title, and what a game it was.
There is no doubt to me ...

The ACC and the Playoffs
There are currently 3 ACC teams in the top 12 rankings (Miami, SMU, Clemson). For the sake of argument, I'm going to count Notre Dame as well since they share ACC bowl tie-ins, and area member in every other sport. So let's just say 4.
