Re: UConn Fans are classless

Sad thread, too many people with too much time on their hands and I hope our new-found success in bball doesn't make some of our a*hol3 fans more obnoxious than they typically are. Go and enjoy Dallas or the Hill Country west of Austin, or Cape Cod or NYC, who the heck cares. Some of us stay in ...

Re: 1/26 Houston Roll Call/Road Trip

that had to get under their skin. Hate it when the opposing team neutralizes the home court - used to happen to us all the time. Would be fun to see a following. There aren't that many SMU alumni, but we usually can travel when we decide to do it. How about getting 200 in Connecticut?

Bringing 8 ...

Re: SMU Extends June Jones Contract

Said SMU president R. Gerald Turner: “Athletics is and always will be an integral part of the SMU experience'.

Really? For who? Neither current students nor alumni attend the games or, in all honesty, give a damn any longer. Time to look in the mirror RGT.

Re: Will SMU cave in to June Jones?

The question is.....'Is June pressing for changes, or is SMU demanding changes'?'. If we offered him an extension (that he will PROBABLY sign) without demanding changes/improvements relating to recruiting / assistants, then shame on us.

Re: NYC Mustang Club Event Recap

Excellent information and everyone appreciates the insight, but I'm sorry- this is not a strong, brass, decisive leader with a vision (which is what we need). He's an Administrator, pure and simple. We are Tulane...and I think the decision makers are fine with that.

Re: Worst Case Scenario

I've seen the worst case scenario. It's no football. Or, worse, it's getting beat 96-21 with a group of guys that look like girl scouts playing against giants.

I would take two years of 95-21 losses with a head coach that wants to be here, is working his butt off, and gives a damn about SMU and ...

Re: O/U 5 wins next season?

7+. keep in mind that burcham will be the longest quarterback at SMU in the Jones era. he'll make the proper leaps and bounds during the spring to make him an efficient starter. Getting this experience the last few games of this season will be monumental for his development. Also the defense ...

Re: One person I took for granted...

Garrett Gilbert is an amazing QB. I am sad to see we will not see him again in an SMU jersey. It was a blast watching him play this season, especially his record setting game against Temple. Thanks Garrett and other seniors! You will be missed...

I can see New England drafting him in the late ...

June Jones is a pretty valid reason

I also stated 'if we get our act together', most on this board seem to be in agreement on what that means (meaning new coach).

Re: Future AAC Bowl Affiliations

We're the AAC what did you expect?

Instead of complaining about the conference and the good ole days, why not focus on the opportunities that are in front of us. The new bowl agreement offers plenty of opportunities for us to play in a major bowl if we get our act together. There is no valid ...

Re: Candidates for Cavan, Bennett, and Jones Positions

Who were the notable names for the SMU jobs when those guys got the job? Anyone we really missed on? And don't say Charlie Waters
...

Curious what the list would have looked like had there been 2M / yr on the table at the time Cavan and Bennett were hired. I thought Cavan was a great hire at the ...

Re: Baylor QB Bryce Petty: No SMU offer?

in sum we could have had him-Baylor came in very late but June was off recruiting QBs in Kansas, Washington, California and Arkansas when Texas is loaded with outstanding QBs polished by Texas 7 on 7

Do you think he would have developed just the same under Coach Jones?

June would have converted ...

Re: This guy gets it

Stop with the excuses for JJ. Supposedly he was going to ASU with this same excuse the he didn' t get what he needed, etc. If he felt that way, retire. Did he? No, he stayed for the money. That is the ONLY reason he is here. He cares less about what he needed to move this program than he did about ...
