Re: The One That Got Away-Paul Johnson
Paul Johnson at Georgia Tech-another gimmick offensive coach-known for poor recruiting is struggling in a very similiar way as June Jones once he was required to put his recruited players on the field. If you take of the ridiculous victories over Division 1AA schools (Elon and Presbyterian????? WTF ...

Re: Jones #7 on Coaches Hot Seat
I don't think London is on the hot seat. UVa had a big rebuilding job, his predecessor committed the sin of losing to William and Mary, and he's reputed to be a great recruiter in Virginia where UVA was losing all the battles to Tech. If UVa shows improvement and they beat BYU last week, he should ...

Re: Jones #7 on Coaches Hot Seat
Maybe we could hire Paul Johnson, or Mike Leach. Both highly recommended by PonyFans just a few years ago just after we phired Phil Probably again after the ASU debacle.

Bobby Cremins famously agreed to coach at USC-east, before changing his mind and returning to GT 3 days later.
Not sure that's what happened here though. I suspect this deal was never quite done for one reason or another.

Re: Honestly...who is our next coach?
You are right about NOT being a service academy, you are a university which is 0 for 2 in your last 2 games vs service academies. SMU should have spanked Army but they didn't show up. Maybe I'm nuts but I bet you guys would love the triple option if you won almost every Saturday running it. Navy ...

That's an outstanding idea. Jeff Monken at Georgia Southern is another if you're looking for someone from the PJ tree.

Offenses that I like better than ours:

Is it too late to go for Paul Johnson again? I'd love to see Line as an option FB.
Keep your hands off of my Johnson.

Re: Zach Line
I liked Zach Line a lot. He did a great job of reading his blocking and setting up the run. Which is key in this type running attack. When you're running a bunch of draws or shovel pass plays in a spread, there is usually a hole to find. Zach found it more often than not.

Can someone please explain the admissions problem?
I read Richie Whitt's article in the Observer. It seems the minimum SMU standard is 900 SAT and 2.5 GPA. Anyone falling below that has to be given an exception / go through a review. Since June has been here, the article states that 25 of 27 such players have been admitted. I don't really see what ...

Surprise, surprise, a San Antonio Express News associated press article says today that the Big Ten is looking into possibly taking TEXAS etc. Big 10 commissioner says that gaining a foothold in the South and extending the reach of the league"s lucrative television network are the two biggest ...

Hell yes to the OP.
SMU fans need to step up their game in a serious way. This is my first year to count myself among your number, but it can be embarrassing at times. This program has stepped into a new era, one in which bowl games will be a regular occurrence, and CUSA championships will be the ...

If we go down to Rice, we won't deserve a bowl bid. However, I think SMU really shows up and beats the snot out of the Owls this Saturday.

Re: Kyle Padron is a Better Quarterback than Bo Levi Mitchell
Decision making ability > strong arm
Yes. I've always heard a strong arm is not the top thing that's needed in this offense. Of course it can never hurt, but scheme wise it's pretty likely someone's going to be running open. The real skill is making quick progressions, recognizing the opening ...

Kyle looked real good to me. I hope to see more of him next week. This was a great win!
