Agree - he has great hustle and is a tough sob - but he is not the answer to the single back question in the run and shoot. We need more speed there. If Fields can block then I think Fields will be in that spot by game three - and when you absolutely positively have to have a yard or two - it will be Line.

Line probably performs his true role on the team as well as just about anyone on the team. ie blocking back, short yardage runner especially on goal line. He will be a great complement for one of the freshman once they get experience. The actual running plays he excells at though are limited-basically to a delayed draw. Teams may be better prepared for that in the future.

Maybe so. But for one night he looked like a pretty darn good back.

Talk about a north and south runner!

No BS dancing around with him, just positive yards.

Yeah, he played a great game. I wish we would have gone to him an 2nd & 5 there at the end, though.

gostangs...I totally agree with you. I thought, especially early, that Line was getting a little too much action. He is a tough runner but save him for inside the five. We don't need to be giving a majority of precious carries to what is basically a fullback. I'm pretty sure Butler is not the answer either. They've gotta get Fields rolling and have him in full stride against tcu.

Glenn Sosbee, what are you talking about? Early on, it was clear that Kyle Padron was rattled and the only constant on offense for the first half was Zach Line. I wish they had given the ball more often to Zach, especially on the second and goal situation. I have been a casual observer of this forum for a long time, but there is no way I could stay silent during this discussion. I’m tired of people ignoring the obvious, Zach Line is the perfect fit for this offense, especially when the number one requirement is to have an outstanding blocking RB. And now that we know Zach can steam roll over anyone to break out some long runs (e.g. 10, 12, and 18 yards), then the decision is an easy one. I guarantee that we will be very successful with Zach as our starting running back and he will have a great career (think of Jerome Bettis).

He was awesome. yesterday..he is faster this year...no one is going to mistake him for Shawnbrey , but he serves a good multifacted purpose and will be perfect for whomever wins the other RB spot...
