That same school also has PJ Fleck and Larry Fedora on their shortlist. I'm a HCCM fan, but those two candidates currently have much better resumes than a 4-14 first-time HC (no matter how unique of a situation SMU has been).

I don't see UT or USC changing coaches this year. Herman to LSU is all but guaranteed unless some other major programs opens up with a surprise vacancy.

BYU won't join a G5 conference because of perception and that pesky P5 Utah problem.

Boise doesn't have decent academics or a solid media market; good luck getting the presidents to agree on them. Plus they have their own TV deal in the MWC.
