IF Chad leaves...who's on the list for our next HC?
Here's a list off the top of my head...
Sonny Dykes - I remember a report out last year that he would consider leaving Cal for a G5 job in Texas, most likely it was UH when Herman was rumored to South Carolina. He's apparently unhappy in Berkeley and would be my first call even though he's probably saying no (makes $2.8M at Cal)
Lincoln Riley - might have better opportunities after this year
Lane Kiffin - our offense wouldnt miss a beat and he's a phenomenal recruiter, he'd be gone in an instant though
Sterlin Gilbert - knows Texas, has made their offense look a lot better this year
K.C. Keeler - maybe a little old for the job at 57, but 205-82-1 lifetime record as a HC
Major Applewhite - not sure if he's hireable after the indiscretions at Texas
David Beaty - this would be out of left field, but he can recruit DFW and SMU is probably a better gig than Kansas. I wouldnt hold his record at KU against him - he might have inherited a worse roster situation than Chad after June - I think they only had like 60 scholarship players last season
Mike Yurcich - Okie State offensive coordinator, Tulane was interested in him last year
Philip Montgomery - only makes $800K (!) at Tulsa, not sure if he'd leave for another AAC West school, but we could definitely get him a raise

I'd start potential candidates with
Lincoln Riley
Phillip Montgomery
Kiffen does have a different level of visibility and experience now that should be considered-but I think he could get a bigger job

I had actually pulled for Strong way back when we hired Bennett as I thought he was ready for a HC position after successful stints at both SC and Fla as DC. Looks like he will be able to sit back and reflect on what he wants to do & where he wants to be courtesy of Texas' money
