Re: Football Attendance Committee

I know 2 people who sat on TCU's Committe of 100 (or whatever they called it) and someone who was on their Board of Trustees. In real simplistic terms, they basically concluded that they were pissed off at being left behind in college athletics (starting with the breakup of the SWC). TCU determined ...

Re: Football Attendance Committee

1. I don't profess to know what all the policies that are at SMU right now (I, like everyone on this board read about what "our opinion" is of those policies). I do feel that we are not quite yet on a level playing field. If we're not, I have to question what our motivation is for staying in the ...

Re: From Tyler J.C.

he'll be a tough, hard-nosed utility receiver type somewhat similar to Bowen and Cardwell. Probably a good special teams contributor.

Re: Robert Timmons

maybe he can come to SMU and major in Kineisiology, Physical Therapy and Education like a number of our recruits think they're going to. Has something changed (tangible, not speculation) that we'll be offering degree programs in these areas to allow these recruits to think the way they do? I sure ...

Re: 2 East Texas Commits

while I don't know anything about this kid from Pine Tree, it is interesting to note that the former head coach of Pine Tree was Dickie Meeks, father of current SMU QB Rickey Joe Meeks. This kid would have been in Junior High when Meeks left Pine Tree to become the head coach at Mt. Vernon. This is ...

Re: Ricky Joe Meeks

Same here. I don't yet know what his QB future is; however, as you state, he is a good athlete and could make our opponents think somewhat differently on punting situations, partucilarly fourth and 1 inside their territory. I'm hopeful that he will get a few snaps at QB this year so he can be ...

We're talking about Meeks not Hodges - just to clarify.

Re: Ricky Joe Meeks

Don't be so quick to say he won't be the punter. He was an all state punter on a number of publications. He would not be "turned into a punter." He already is one - and probably the best one on the team. Why wouldn't you use him as a punter much like Danny White was used. We should always put the ...

Re: Ricky Joe Meeks

Don't be surprised to see him as our punter which, in turn, could make our punt coverage much better due to his threat to execute a fake (not to mention his ability to actually punt).

Re: Fixing this program

RGV, it's really pretty simple. Each year we become further removed from the years in which SMU fielded a winner. In turn, our fan base erodes a little each year and we have done nothing (in the W column) to gain new fans. Not only are we not gaining new fans, we're also gradually losing existing ...

No doubt it would be critical for us to make their band's attendance part of the contract.

Re: Friday's DMN: OC hired!; and confirms attempts to buy out OSU.

GRGB, yes, that's what I mean. Who do you think fills up the Cotton Bowl for them? It's certainly not their alums - it's people from Dallas and kids from DISD. I think this type of game could bring a lot of people from Dallas into Ford that might not otherwise ever set foot on our campus to watch a ...

Re: Friday's DMN: OC hired!; and confirms attempts to buy out OSU.

This has nothing to do with how well Grambling travels. This has everything to do with how well Grambling would help fill the stadium from people in the City of Dallas. Putting Grambling on our home schedule for a few years would do wonders for our attendance and help in the win-loss column.
