to HtoL and jt: I declined to speak to Calvin Watkins of the DMN because - as you have both stated so often - I did not attend SMU and therefore - as you have both stated so often - my opinion does not matter.

If Mr. Watkins wanted to get a quote from someone, there were plenty of other folks on this board whom he could have contacted. (For instance, either one of you.) I deferred to them.

If I had spoken to Mr. Watkins, I'm sure you (and a few others on this board who are critical of my passion towards SMU) would have said "WTF? He didn't go to SMU! What right does he have to speak to a reporter about SMU football?!"

DiamondM: One thing I noticed Saturday at the Notre Dame game was that damn near every time the ND (home) band started playing when it wasn't right after a score, the Tenn. band would launch into Rocky Top or some other crap before ND's band was done. I thought it was lacking in the class dept...I think I remember one of ya'll saying it's something of an unspoken rule that you don't have dualing bands.

Another thing you'll get a kick out of. During the 3rd quarter, Notre Dame had about a 10-piece 'spirit band' of its own playing behind us in the stands. When the first note was played, instinct took over & I was expecting to hear Peruna played. Alas, it turned out to be the Wake Up the Echoes song.

True, it is a courtesy not to play when the other band is playing. However, sometimes you can not hear the other band and accidents happen.

Copy cats. It is interesting how many schools copy the Mustang Band and the SMU Alumni Band. There are now other schools who have started alumni bands that perform at home games. And it won't be long before other alumni bands start performing at basketball games during the holiday breaks. Jim Copeland once commented to me that other AD's asked him what SMU did for spirit during the holiday breaks while the band students were away. He would reply "Our Alumni Band performs." The other AD's would look at him with a puzzled face and reply "Alumni Band?"
Just send 'da money.

HtoL - Put the bottle down

Postby BornRed&Blue » Mon Nov 07, 2005 4:30 pm

and quit posting on this board until you can quit blasting other fans of SMU.

You are an embarrassment, to put down a poster that is FOR SMU.

When someone posts on our board from another school, then blast away, but stop posting here and blasting "fellow" SMU fans (no matter where they went to school) until you sober up.
