academic casualtiesModerators: PonyPride, SmooPower Re: academic casualtiesback to my original question.
How many have we lost and what impact will this have on the season?
Re: academic casualties
I'm a longtime Pony also upset about the academic casualties. But damn dude "Indians might get restless" makes us real Indians feel invisible. Not all Ponies are only na hullo (whites). Well, in my case, as half Indian and half na hullo, liminal. WL One. Fifty-Six. Ninety-nine!
Re: academic casualties
Hopefully no impact, as it would be nice to have such talent and depth that we can redshirt the entire group of incoming freshmen, until we start signing players like Adrian Peterson who are so good they can start anywhere. Of course, we are nowhere near that stage, so hopefully the casualties won't kill the season. After losing a senior class with the likes of Sanders, Kennemer, Enright, etc., there are openings for a talented freshman to get on the field.
Re: academic casualties
Exactly my point.... You were invisible until you became a half restless Indian which prompted your third post. We didn't know you existed. Welcome to the board. We are all Mustang fans and all are desired and welcome. No offense meant.
Re: academic casualtiesI want to drink liquor with the Indian.

Turner was a professor. Far East Conference

Re: academic casualtiesI suspect that these go hand in hand with some of the admissions denials. Turner is probably watching our APC scores and doesn't want to go too far out on a limb. Also, I am sure that some of the faculty are blowing back about the academic skills sets of some of these guys. If guys are not getting grades, it means that they are not putting the effort into it. ALC is there, tutors are there, fellow classmates are there, and they have brains. So, those that are failing are making it more difficult for others to follow.
UNC better keep that Ram away from Peruna

Re: academic casualtiesWhy can't SMU let him in, red shirt him or something along that line, so he can become acclimated to the college demands. After the first semester they should know if the kid can make it or not. Maybe he was not getting the support in High School, and thru advisors and tutors he me might become a very good student and someday might become a very good supporter of dear ole SMU.
PONY UP!!!! SEE IN YOU LUBBOCK! GO MUSTANGS!
Re: academic casualties
First, the hoops player I think you're refering to is DWill, and the hoops staff still consider it a miracle he got in. That said, he finished up w/honors at JC, and then made all conference academic team as a senior at SMU. Simply, he had put some academic success under him prior to SMU, after the GED. Now, Ricmonds Vilde was just admitted as a non-qualifier. From what i'm told, the difference is that he grew up in Latvia and just had a very different academic platform. Smart kid but English is his 2nd language etc. They must feel better about his ability to achieve at SMU, then they do about kids who grew up in this system, but still struggle mightily. “When I first committed to SMU, I thought it would take a couple of years of building. But with these players coming in, we should make a run. We have a lot of heavy hitters. It could get real ugly for a lot of teams we play.â€- Jalen Jones
