Yeah, WV baffles me to some degree. Neither the ACC, B1G or the SEC were interested in them. While they have a loyal following, not 1000 miles away. They bring no TV markets. Now they are demanding a travel partner (read Cincinnati or UConn), so that they are not on an island, but they're stuck. No other P5 conference wants them. Where are they going to go? The American Conference? Yet, they have a blackball to drop on any other team that might enter if their needs aren't met. The Big XII is clearly a teetering giant.

TCU and WVU were picked up because they were the best schools available that could play in the B12 in the Fall of 2012. For reasons that still baffle me, the teams fleeing the B12 didn't have to give much notice.

1) Due to blind luck, TCU had not technically joined the Big East. Thus, it did not have to wait to start with the B12. It was a perfect fit.
2) Although it was contractually bound to provide 27 months notice to the Big East, WVU was willing to take the litigation risk (in part because they filed suit first in WV state court) involved in breaking their contract. Thus, it was willing to play in the Fall. Other potential targets weren't willing to take that risk.

The SEC should take us. We make a perfect compliment to A&M. We need to convince them that our long term commitments to sports will surpass TCU and Baylor. Dallas would be the biggest city in that conference I think. Would love to see us play Arkansas at Jerryworld.

Last I checked most SEC states voted republican. I suspect they won't be bringing in a welfare case.

Louisville was and is a better option.

Baylor wants to limit expansion to 2. For them Houston is a lock and SMU isn't even part of the conversation.

That is from someone who knows a regent, but they also said the regents are being very tight lipped and that bit of information was from a while back.
