Be careful what we wish for?Is it bad to wish for a top 25? Is it bad to wish for a victory over a ranked BCS team? Is it bad to wish for a 10+ win season? Is it bad to wish for being invited to a better bowl? I do not think so. For the record I think June can make a run next year for that.

Re: Be careful what we wish for?I think the webmaster meant that if we fire June Jones we could end up with someone worse. June may be mediocre as a recruiter but there is no denying that he motivates his players and puts them in a position to succeed. The last 4 season have been better than any 4 in 25 years at SMU. Ideally we can take that next step but enjoy the current success and don't take anything for granted.
Re: Be careful what we wish for?"Is it bad to wish for a top 25? Is it bad to wish for a victory over a ranked BCS team?"
Actually we have a victory over a ranked soon to be BCS team (the next year), and sniffed the top 25. SMU 40 TCU 33 in FW ![]() May the forth be with us.
Re: Be careful what we wish for?Haven't you heard, we can't do any better so we should be happy with the table scraps we've been given. Embrace mediocrity.

Re: Be careful what we wish for? After being in the perennial bottom 10 for 20 years I'll give mediocrity a big hug
![]() I think we've plateaued which can happen after going from 1-11 to 8-5 in 1 year. We haven't fallen back from that, and I think JJ can, and is working to do better ![]() Offense, and GG looked a lot better with the addition of Mumme ![]() May the forth be with us.
Re: Be careful what we wish for?
I guess if we continue to compare our selves to ourselves we might be happy being right where we are. Kind of like on guy from Arkansas told me a few years a ago when they were hoping we would take Houston Nutt off their hands. He said, "Houston Nutt will get you 6 wins a year and ya'll ought to a be happy with that." I them told him that we were not looking for a coach to just us around 6 wins per year. Unfortunately I guess he was right. I guess there will be fear in a lot of peoples eyes when June retires since we can't do better. #HammerDown
Re: Be careful what we wish for? When June retires maybe Mumme can take over

Re: Be careful what we wish for?
Mumme or Phillips imo. #HammerDown
Re: Be careful what we wish for?Mumme would be like still having JJ here and Phillips has done nothing to prove that he can recruit top level players.
Re: Be careful what we wish for? You're right - let's give back Zelt Minor and Ced Lancaster.
FWIW, another Phillips-coached player, Patrick Edwards, is supposed to start as an undrafted free agent for the Lions this week. "Mass genocide is the most exhausting activity one can engage in .... next to soccer."

I think what he might be saying is what other high schools other than Lamar has he landed anyone? #HammerDown

Re: Be careful what we wish for?
Mumme would honestly be worse than having June (twice-failed in FBS and his teams were reputed for being horrible on defense and special teams). Phillips has yet to do anything here to distinguish himself as a coach or recruiter. They who would give up an essential liberty for temporary security, deserve neither liberty or security

Re: Be careful what we wish for?Phillips can recruit. Coaches! And as soon as we can play 85 coaches on the squad, then we found our new head coach.
