SMU89 wrote:90-100: Rare Prospect

Player demonstrates rare abilities and can create mismatches that have an obvious impact on the game. Is a player that has all the skills to take over a game and could be an impact player as a true freshman.

80-89: Outstanding Prospect

Player has the ability to create mismatches against most opponents and could contribute as a true freshman.

70-79: Good Prospect

Player does not dominate in every game, especially when matched up against the top players in the country. Could become a good starter at the Division I level.

60-69: Solid Prospect

This player is overmatched against the better players in the nation. His weaknesses will be exposed against top competition. Has the ability to develop into a solid contributor at the Division I level.

50-59: Prospect

Player has some redeeming qualities but is not projected to contribute at the Division I level.

45: Pending Prospect w/ film

Scouts Inc. has received film of the prospect and an evaluation is pending.

40: Pending Prospect

Player has redeeming qualities and is projected to contribute at the Division I level, however film has not yet been received.

ESPN Watch List

Player rated somewhere from 78 to 100 with a chance to make the ESPN 100, the ranking of the top 100 prospects in the country.

The only problem with that list is that there are no grades below 40, so is everyone a D1 prospect? Many of Bennett's class beg to differ.

No, apparently a 50 is not DI material.

I guess I was more saying the lowest grade should be not D1 material and a different grade for no film.

He'd commit today to SMU, but no offer yet. Starter on two state championship teams, 176 tackles last year...

That's wrong... he's been offered by Rice and Baylor is getting very close, but SMU hasn't offered. Those lists are word of mouth things, or rather rumors. Rivals and Scouts are constantly hounding these kids. No telling what they hear or want to hear. They don't come from the schools.

He has talked to SMU a lot.

Being you have 2 posts. And they are about him. And you say he would commit if he got the offer. You must know him. So I will believe you that he has not gotten the offer! =)
