Anybody else bothered that he got yanked after he dropped the wide open bomb to him? I kinda thought Bennett should have called his number again soon after so as not to shatter him.

I thought the same thing at the time, but we won the game so I dont think it will have any effect. He should have caught it no doubt, but it wasnt a great pass from my vantage point. Givens looks like a football player thats for damn sure.

how long has it been since we got someone that wide open deep? That's why he is in the game. Next time he'll adjust to the lights and take it to the house. Remember this guy played QB in high school so he is learning a new position.

i gotta admit it looked like more of a blown coverage to me, but it does take some speed to get that far down field in the time Romo has to throw.

Stallion? Is that you?

Romo's arm looked better than I thought, especially on that flip to Givens.

Man I'm loving it to finally get some dudes like DeMyron Martin and Columbus Givens on the field. This is why I spend so much time following recruiting.

Givens will be alright. I think he was thinking about running with the ball rather than concentrating on catching it. The reason he was SO wide open is that Romo started to scramble to his right and the DBs broke off their coverage to run back and contain Romo. Romo had the presence of mind to see Givens out there by himself and threw a nice pass to him. Mind you, Romo, a southpaw running to his right, was able to put a nice catchable pass way down field. He really has a pretty good arm. That pass to the corner of the endzone for a touchdown also had some distance on it and it was on the money. There were a number of catchable passes dropped last night yet he was still over 50% on completions. According to Stallion, he is not a D-1 QB, but he looked pretty damn good last night to me. With more starts, I think he is going to do just fine thank you.

Romo deserves some props today because he did pretty well. Really commend him for his toughness after getting popped really hard near the end of the 3rd quarter. He had some passes dropped on him, but he also made a few bad throws into traffic, at least two of which were lucky not to be picked off. I think it was clear to everybody that we needed Romo rather than Eckert on the field for mobility. However, it was Eckert that came in for the series Romo was shaken up. I still want to see Phillips in that situation at least to keep the same style of play going.

No you can not get a medical redshirt and then redshirt. It can happen the other way around though. But this brings up a good point. Don't you have to apply for the medical redshirt year at the start of your senior year? Phillips played in 2 1/2 games-is Phillips being held out because its unclear whether he will get that medical redshirt? I haven't ever heard that from the coaching staff which you would expect/

This is an interesting thought. It would seem that if you could redshirt, and then subsequently medical redshirt, that you should be able to redshirt after a medical redshirt. It was my understanding that he could not redshirt now since he had had the medical, but what if he happened to get hurt during 2 a days this year, prior to playing a single down for instance. Should he not have the same opportunity as any other player and claim a regular redshirt year even though he was injured.

I still am under the belief that he has no more redshirt eligiblity for him, but I would like to see if there is a defined statement somewhere that would explain this. There possibly is more to him not playing other than life in a doghouse.

Maybe Phillips can be the next Ramone Flanigan and play for us for 7 years (it seemed) ?? Hope he doesn't break his leg during the first game next year.

My Dad, who is also an SMU graduate, used to say in 97 (Ramon's last year) that Flanigan probably had a long gray beard since he had been there so long. I'm surprised he didn't have premature gray considering how Cavan used him.
