I used to do sell out fundraisers during Doh years. It cracks me up that I have personal thank you notes from Doh, Orsini and others for when we had the biggest ticket sales game of the season, and it was like 3500 seats.

I was. Not sure if I was using this name, but I have Ben around awhile.

I'm not going to disagree with anything you've said, but I will give you a piece of free advice: try to sound a little less like you're gloating. I think that is actually what is chafing most people, not that your predictions came true. If you rub someone's nose in sheet while they are already in agony, don't be surprised when they lash out at you.

Truth is our tournament resume wasn't as strong as some thought. SMU played a soft ooc schedule, no ooc wins against the rpi top 100, and Uconn was our only top-100 road win. There were 4quality wins in conference, but also 3very suspect losses. When we finished the season in a mini-slump you had to know there was a chance we had played our way out of contention. I still can't believe that Nebraska got in over us, but we put ourselves in a dangerous position with the final loss to Houston.

Before the season started I thought we could be an NIT team. Expectations went up after the cincy win, but I can't say the final result was totally unexpected.

This. If you were one of my friends at my place this evening watching the selection show, I would have told you to STFU or smacked you in the face if you kept rattling on like that. There's a time and place for everything.

Bottom line, if you're posting on here, you care about SMU. Fan test or not.

I remember you well XX,

and I remember your old name as well, Remember when we met at Twin Peaks up in Plano all those years ago..

I still see you at all the games.

I agree, I should not come off as gloating, you stated it more eloquently than I ever could. I just got a bit peeved off by all the noobs saying we were a lock.

You took the higher road, X, much like I wish have.

/Much Respect.

I remember CP, Mitch, hoopmanx, hoop fan, LA Mustang, Cal Allen, and a couple others posted during that era. The CIT run was fun.

I think PonyFans is a great place (in general), but it's not some perfect proxy for who is a true fan or not. I have followed SMU basketball since I was very little but I wasn't a regular poster till this year.

Point taken, I apologize, I just thought we did not have a tournament resume and could not believe the shock and awe when we did not make it.

Believe me, I was as upset as anyone. I behaved badly and conveyed my feelings all wrong...

I really do apologize.

/cheers

No need for a [deleted] swinging contest tonight. If you're reading this, you care. And I love you.

Yes I do remember meeting you, ironically I was at a different TP to watch the selection show this evening. I'll be at Moody on Wednesday, and I'm sure you will be, too.

I attended lots of conference games from mid 70's-mid 80's, most games from late 80's-mid 90's, and pretty much stopped attending 2000 until Larry Brown arrived. Bought my first season tickets this year.
I could never drag my new bride at the time from 2000 to 2007 to any SMU sports, even though she was an SMU alum. Divorce in 2007 and JJ brought me back into the fold. Never happier :D … Except for tonight
