Likely ticket system reserves arbitrary seat so they know when they are sold out.

Did a separate email go out to the people who sit in the red seats, Loge seats and the boxes about buying tickets? It's almost kind of like the Titanic and its different decks that people were on and they couldn't go into the other areas..............

I have "red seats". My email directed me to my ticketmaster smu account and my seats were displayed. The email said I had until 5:00 today to buy the tickets.

WTF red seat ticket holders could purchase their seats, but us commoners in the 200's can't?? Such BS. Not attending the game on Wednesday.

Are you kidding me? You're not going to support the team because you have to go GA?

This is just one more slap in the face I can't handle right now.

I drove my [deleted] to Garland four times this year, took time off from work to watch the Houston game Thursday, had my calendar marked off to take time off from work to travel to the NCAA tournament games, yet the ticket office couldn't give me right of refusal for my seats? I emailed them this morning and here was their response:

"Because of the extremely quick turnaround we made the decision to make all 200 level seats will be general admission for round 1 in order to hopefully ensure a strong and supportive crowd for the game on Wednesday. We are evaluating and if we are able to qualify for later rounds if possible and advisable may change the procedure going forward, but for this round all 200 level seats will be first come first serve. If you are able to arrive early and your seats are still available you are obviously encouraged to sit in them.

I know this can cause some consternation and please know that we are working our hardest to make the game on Wednesday the best possible experience for both the team and supporters like yourself.

We appreciate your feedback and truly will consider as we move forward in the tournament."

I'm pretty sure they could have given me till 5 pm to purchase today. After all, they are trying to "ensure a strong and supportive crowd". Yeah? So was I, that's why I spent December dragging my friends to the Curtis Cullwell Center in rush hour.

Ridiculous second-class season-ticket holders in the 200s can't buy their seats.

I assume if we hold off until 5pm the unpurchased red seats will be available?

I don't get why anyone would not support the team just because they have an issue with the ticket policy. We're all pissed and hurt by the selection snub, but imagine how the players feel, especially Shawn and Nick. If you want to send a message to the ticket office, refuse to buy beer/soda/food but at least show up and support the team.

I have many issues I'm steamed about right now - but one of the perks of being a season ticket holder is 1) being familiar with your seats and the other people around you, and 2) being able to work the games into your schedule.

I think this is the first 8 pm mid-week game at SMU this year, God forbid I be able to go enjoy a relaxing dinner and drinks with friends before the game. You know what? I like my seats. I want to sit there. I don't want to have to show up way early to buy an $8 shiner and eat the awful food at the "Hilltop Grill" just because I want to sit in my normal seats.

Your right.....it's great that our cash strapped athletic department can send the message the if you don't donate enough to sit in the red seats, we really don't give a [deleted] about you so you can fight it out for your seat..............

I feel the same way and I understand your frustration. I sent an email biatching about it because I too would like to sit in my seats but I'm not going to punish the team because of a bad decision by the ticket office.

I'm going to email Rick Hart and the ticket office to express my frustration and what I've said here.

That said, I'm going to get a bottle of wine and a steak and cook up a large dinner at home Wednesday night. If we beat UC Irvine - and I get the option to buy the tickets to my seats, I'll be there this weekend.

My attitude is so poor right now it's probably best I skip the game anyway. If I see Markus Kennedy get stuffed by anyone I might explode.

It isn't so much getting "my seats" as it is having to get there early to claim seats and deal with all of the hassles of GA - after supporting the team all these years...

I understand holding all of the 200s would be a nightmare for the ticket office and would probably lose some sales, but they should have at least made certain sections in the 200s available to season ticket holders until 5pm today so you could at least get reserved seats.
