Best Student Cheering Section in 20 Years

I thought what was amazing was that the student section seemed to keep growing as the game went on. I guess as word trickled out to the dorms, frat houses, and the BLVD that we were winning that the students started showing in force. They were already into the game early but they got better as the game went on.

Our student section looked like a real college. Lots of students in the upper level, too. (should have given them those balloon clappers... I'm sure they looked good on TV). Wish the T-shirt brains had put "SMU" on a red T-Shirt instead of "TCU" --- looked very, very high school with the attached sentiment. Thought they might have been a little more creative/original than "SUCKS". Pretty lame.

The student section was loud with the "third down thunder" sticks. At half time being ahead it was like the field general had ordered reinforcements. There were SMU personnel running up and down the stands throwng those blow up sticks to everyone in the stands. Lots of noise on the "old folks" side in the 2nd half. I think I understand the "third down thunder" now. Maybe it was just the excitement of the game but it seemed the announcer handled it better this week and it did get a rise out of the crowd.

The "third down thunder" admonition was really getting irritating to some TCU Fans sitting behind me. Too bad for them !!

I figured we got the third down thing from TCU. I remember getting pretty irritated with their 3rd down "announcement" when we played at Amon Carter last year. Of course, it was not as irritating as the final score.

From what I saw on TV, the student section looked pretty full and the "TCU SUCKS" T-shirts definitely showed up on the screen several times. (Partly because they focused on the same hot looking chick wearing one). I could hear Peruna played over and over during the game on TV which I love to see. I was fun being able to see the Ponies while living 2000 miles away. I even managed not to wake the rest of the house when DeMyron bulled in that third TD.
