Just a very strange game. The refs made some crazy decisions. I've NEVER seen a foul call reviewed to see if it was a flagrant and then they say it was no foul. That's a first.

Their big guy was an undeniable force. He completely changed the game. We couldn't do anything inside when he was in. He would get beat and still easily block the shot. You can't teach 7'6".

The crowd was great and so far beyond what I expected....the students, late arriving as they were, made a difference. We have such a great environment at Moody.

Anytime there is an elbow call, it is reviewed to see if it is a flagrant 1 or 2. The rules allow them to overturn if it turns out that there was no contact, which was the case. Didn't care for the refs much, but in this situation they handled it well.

I totally disagree with your assessment of the big guy. He was a HUGE force in dominating the paint. I would guess, if you reviewed the video, that he impacted as much as 1/3 of our offense by blocking shots, altering the shot angles ( court positions ) of our many inside shot attempts, altering the arch angles of shots, forcing our bigs under the rim and backboard and taking away much of the paint causing repeated kick out passes because there was nothing inside. On most other teams we would have had another 20 points with our excellent passing to the inside people. In fact, I think he was the victim of some bad officiating just because his arms and elbows were just naturally at head height of most of our players and they would get him for fouls when they were not deserved. I think we basically wore him out in the second half and his effectiveness was diminished at the end of the game coupled with some frustrating foul calls.

You can't throw elbows once you have control of the ball and they let The Mountain do it all game long. You can flair your elbows and pivot but you can't just swing away with your elbows. We are lucky one of our guys didn't get knocked out. The refs - especially the dude with the bad Marine haircut - shouldn't be allowed to call 7th grade girls' games...................

Yeah the ability to review the elbow and reverse the call is a brand new rule this year. In some cases when the defender is putting on an acting show (see Florida/Tennessee in the SEC championship game last week) the rule works. That being said, I would like to see a replay of last night's phantom elbow. And something tells me that our players were told to play up the swinging elbow (at least that's what I would have told them if I were coach)

The elbow was no big deal. Officials called it and they were wrong. No one flopped, or pretended to be hit. Elbow missed by 6 inches. Just a bad call.

Replay clearly showed that the big guy had his elbows relatively close to his body and merely turned. No way I could find any foul on that pivot play.

Clayton Korvar used to swing his elbows viciously. Actually got called for fouls every now and then and that was during the days you could punch and claw players.

The play occurred right in front of me, and it looked like he got hit. It all comes down to angle with a play like that. Replay angle clearly showed no foul.

Yeah. I guess I should have said wrong call instead of bad call. I am sure from the official's angle it looked like he was hit.

Yep; "The Animal" definitely lead with his elbows, but was very effective clearing the boards. Had those big hands and loved to clamp down on the ball as well. Don't remember too many guys tearing one away from him once he got his hands on the ball

Did anyone else see one ref elbow larry in the mouth? He was running down the sideline and bumped into him
