The Coach K OffensiveModerators: PonyPride, SmooPower Re: The Coach K OffensiveDUKE - I served my country about the same time as Coach K did. I'd bet others on this board did the same. I prayed for your coach's safety in the field when he was dressed in his uniform - I imagine others on this board did likewise. However, this is about basketball and Coach K's actions have created consequences. We feel shafted by him and we have an obligation as basketball fans and SMU alumni to tell the rest of the basketball world how we were insulted, slighted and offended by coach K's actions. I hope you can understand that. If not I hope we can play you in the next few years and beat the Patterson out of you on the bb court.

Re: The Coach K OffensiveDBB, you are losing this argument, bud. There is not a soul on this board that is sad to see Duke lose other than you. Coach Klown can go cry somewhere else.
Re: The Coach K OffensiveSome of the following has been said already, and on this board.
I think it fair to say that Duke and other teams lost to opponents they should have beat - more or less like SMU did three times at the end of the season. If SMU had won out we this discussion would not have started, What ever K's role in what teams were chosen I'd like to see the NCAA announce a selection process for the next tournament at the beginning of the season and use that in an attempt to eliminate any subjectivity or politicking as March approached. I'll leave it to others to debate what that process ought to be. I have mixed feelings. On one level though, I'd like to see NCAA playoffs limited to regular season champions - period. On another the multiple teams in a playoff has appealed to fans and certainly to the people receiving TV revenue whether it is MLB or the NFL or the BCS or college BB. It is not going to go away. Certainly Mercer, SDSU, and Harvard have made things interesting this season. If the selection process were known at the start there would still be complaints from those left out and the process might have to be tweaked for several years to get it right. I don't think an individual such as K ought to be demonized because of advocacy. I DO think SMU should have been picked. ' Go Ponies. Win the NIT! Best to our teams starting with the women tomorrow night.
Re: The Coach K OffensiveYour screen name is Duke Blue Blood and you are a SMU fan telling ppl off ?
Re: The Coach K OffensiveDissapointed no one said this yet:
U mad bro?
Re: The Coach K OffensiveWe do what we do. If we aren't bashing Coach K, we are bashing Coach Jones. I for one like the break from the usual Jones is son of Satan rants.
Re: The Coach K OffensiveI think we should vote on every opinion and only follow Robert's Rules of Order.
Re: The Coach K OffensiveDBB - If Coach K would keep his mouth shut and coach, this thread and others wouldn't be on this board. His shameless politicking is THE problem with college athletics. "Our conference is better than all others so we should have more chances to win the title." Sounds a bit like the SEC in football, no? That is the attitude that has established the completely unfair system in football that gives SMU zero chance of ever winning the championship in that sport no matter how good of a team we put together. And you expect this board to give Coach K a pass when he brings that attitude to basketball and it costs SMU? Pigs must be able to fly in your world.
Re: The Coach K Offensive
We bash those whose actions keep SMU down
Re: The Coach K OffensiveWellman was and is on the hotseat with Wake Forest's administration.
He is/has been trying to save his job after suffering the consequences of some fairly poor decisions. Appointing a "below the bubble" ACC team to the tourney was his way of placating his bosses (extra money shared by ACC members) Within a few days, he tried again to placate his bosses by firing his buddy Bzdelik (a very poor decision he made to replace Gaudio in 2010)...http://sports.espn.go.com/ncb/columns/story?id=5512936 Krzyzewksi's perceived "lobbying" was no more or less than that of Boeheim, Williams, or any other ACC coach. It's too bad Pitino had a conflict of interest (joining ACC next year) or maybe he would have lobbied harder for his current conference. The angst toward K and Duke is ubiquitous amongst hardcore fans of other teams. Success often breads envy, and the 24 hour sports channels exacerbate the situation. A more productive response would be to channel the envy and use it to support and promote your "own" team. #Ponyup #RoadtotheGarden !
Re: The Coach K OffensiveMeant to post this on this thread:
Does DBB really think that Coach K was not HAPPY that SMU was snubbed with the NC State addition to the tournament? When you are recruiting head to head for one of the top 5 players in America that you desperately need on your team (Duke NEEDS a big man), you have to enjoy EVERY advantage that you can get in recruiting. The SMU snub allows K to go back to a recruit and use our Conference against us, even though we all know that the American can compete head to head with ACC any day of the week with our top 5 teams. However, I know that said recruit is way too smart to fall for Coach K's ACC vs. American talk. "Moral Victories Make Me Sick" - TR

Re: The Coach K OffensiveLB wouldn't have said what Coach K said about A10...success or not. All those guys are love-able sleaze-balls...30 for 30's Requiem for Big East did a great job of highlighting their personalities.
Re: The Coach K OffensiveEveryone in my state loathes Coack K. Duke is a northeastern school in our minds.
DBB's post is beyond ridiculous. Takeoff thekneepads brother.
Re: The Coach K Offensive
