TCU and Aggy really [deleted] the bed this year and ruined our SoS. Here's to them fielding a real basketball team in future years and not being a liability...

No. Wyoming came to Moody last season, and A&M was part of that Corpus Christi Challenge

My opinion is that we just need 1 or 2 more mid level teams in a strong conference (uva next year would be good as they won't be nearly as good next year but in the darling ACC). Then we just need to WIN. We can't forget that this was also part of our own undoing on the court. Beat Louisville and beat Houston and we're in.

How are we not accepting the Wichita State challenge? Similarly, we should propose home-and-homes to mid-majors which would be beneficial to both us and them...teams such as Gonzaga, VCU, UMass, Saint Louis, Stephen F. Austin, Dayton, Harvard, Manhattan, etc. Why not fill up our out of conference schedule with games vs these kinds of opponents? It would substantially boost our schedule strength.

Wouldn't mind a home-and-home with UTEP. . . Really want a home-and-home with Texas and Baylor. Don't think Baylor or Texas want anything to do with a home-and-home with SMU. That's why I mentioned UTEP. Great crowds at the Haskins Center.

Wichita State poses the same problem that SFA and Manhattan do. If they happen to lose one or two or even three conference games, or even to a few meddling OOC teams, it will completely scuttle their, and consequently our own, RPI.

Their conferences suck, and counting on them running train over them year in and year out is not really the best strategy for having a solid OOC

This would take us down a notch as the Big East is a sinking ship. Also, ESPN would never go for it since the BE is FS1. They would want us with another ESPN conference.

Also, the knock on our OOC SOS was not that we didn't play enough big teams. To me it was the bad teams we played were really bad.

Way early for that as well.

Early season tourneys are just about all drawn up just fyi. No SMU yet. Not many left though either.

Someone above said "end of summer" for the release of non-conference, this is correct.

Indiana fans on their Rivals board are saying; SMU @ Indiana is an exempt tournament in Bloomington next year. . . It's a message board. So take it for what it's worth.

I am sorry, but what is an exempt tournament?

This seems appealing, but I don't really agree with it. I don't think Wichita State will be nearly as good next year. The other teams don't have the "brand" we need. I'd rather play "name" teams but that aren't all that great -- but only about 2-3 of them -- and then just schedule our bottom a little bit better (not a knock on our AD because aTm, Wyoming, and TCU were supposed to be better than they were and we had opportunities to beat Arky and UVA and we didn't).

And then, of course, you have to WIN. Doesn't matter who you play, you have to WIN!! This team cannot take a single night off. That's the "growth" LB talks about . . . overcoming adversity . . . you can be down 10 to a team like LSU. Don't panic, stick together, and BALL! And prove you can do it on the road especially. That, more than scheduling, is the critical part.
