I hope the good folks at SMU are paying attention to the NIT tournament. I love the prege announcements and a great half time show is always appreciated, but the small acts and announcements they do during timeouts can really take the fans out of the game. In a tournament where we are not allowed to have these side acts, it's great to see how our fans keep their momentum and energy throughout timeouts.

I'm not saying scrap all of these acts as I am sure some of them generate revenue, but maybe streamline it a little bit. Definitely try to keep the crowd flowing in major home games.

Great point, harness the raw energy while you've got it and keep it going. At the very least don't implement any gimmicks in the second half.

Excellent observation! I posted about this after the Louisville game where they decided to cram every recognition ceremony into the game timeouts.

Exact opposite last night with combination of band and uptempo music and it was electric!

LSU actually called very timely T.O.'s every time Moody blew up, but it just continued - amazing environment last night.

completely agree. All the side bar stuff is great for half time. the little piddly contests were needed when we had to create a distraction from our team and our crowd. That is not the case now.

On television it was very noticeable that there was never a lull in crowd support. Usually there seems to be a period where things get a little subdued and everything slows a little. Never saw that last night.

I was saying 2 - 2.5. Very impressed by the SMU turnout. What a corner we have turned!

On tv, I could hear the LSU fans start a chant and be quickly drowned out by SMU fans. Dare to dream of the day that happens in football....
At no point in your rambling, incoherent response were you even close to anything that could be considered a rational thought. Everyone in this room is now dumber for having listened to it. I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul.

I was at the game and only recall one time I actually heard any kind of a united cheer from LSU, and that was the "LSU" which was quickly drowned out by our "SMU". Hilltop is right: Keep the small stuff for halftime and don't kill the crowd's enthusiasm.

They had one pretty loud when we called a timeout once, believe that play put them up 10.

Found an interesting post that corresponds with a comment from LSU coach prior to the game:
Talked to David Patrick after the game (he played basketball with my brother), and he said our guys were all tired after halftime. They played well in the first half, but SMU will just wear you down.
Source

About 10 minutes to the end of the game, it was pretty easy to see that some of the LSU players couldn't stop panting. Conversely, ours didn't look nearly as tired, even by the end of the game.
