Re: next years tournament/cutting off own nose dept
We haven't had successful sports programs since the '80s and most people didn't pick SMU for it's sports...
Re: next years tournament/cutting off own nose dept
This has gotta be an outlier. It's such a ridiculous question that I'm not sure if serious lol

You take Melissa McCarthy to dinner, I'll take care of Scarlett. Do unto others before they do unto you!!

Re: next years tournament/cutting off own nose deptBefore we jump all over anyone for a stupid questions.
THIS HAS ACTUALLY HAPPENED BEFORE. Marquette University, under Al McGuire, was pissed off over their seeding. They told the Evil Empire to go stuff themselves. They went to play in the NIT (which is owned and before 2005 operated by the NYC Universities). That is why the semis and finals are always played in the Garden. The Evil Empire subsequently passed a rule that if you didn't play in their tournament, when invited, then you don't get to play in any post season. Since that rule was passed, their have been multiple lawsuits between the NYC Group and the NCAA. The NCAA took over the NIT Tournament in 2005 as part of an anti-trust settlement (I think the deal is 10 years and $55+ million dollars). Ironic that the organization accused of being the monopoly settled the suit by becoming bigger and more powerful. Not sure if the rule about post season is still in effect. Some rise by sin, and some by virtue fall
Re: next years tournament/cutting off own nose dept
Formula NCAA used in the past was a set amount then increasing considerably for each round you advanced. Not sure each of 68 teams is guaranteed 1.6 million for making the tournament.

1) SEE! not so clueless. not so stupid. but thanks for showing we still have plenty of readers who will "jump" all over a guy without thinking themselves. 2) hypothetical questions are often unlikely and "wild eyed", but there to get one to think about...something. 3) really, the evil empire ncaa DOES need to have their monopoly harnessed and remember, all it takes for evil to win is good universities to do nothing. 4) for those who thoughtfully explained to me WHY this won't happen AGAIN, thanks.
